Kim Kardashian says she chose own happiness ‘even if it caused divorce’ from Kanye

Kim Kardashian has revealed that she “chose herself” and that by doing so it may have “caused divorce” from her estranged husbandKanye West, 44.

The pair married in May 2014 and over the course of their relationship welcomed four children together: North, eight, Saint, six, Chicago, four, and Psalm, two.

Seven years on from tying the knot, Kim, 41, filed for divorce from the Golddigger rapperin February 2021.

Now, a year one from filing the documents Kim, who’s currently dating SNL star Pete Davidson, has opened up about how putting herself first was important to her, even if it resulted in the end of her marriage.

Kim, who’sVogue US’ new cover star, told the magazine: “For so long, I did what made other people happy, and I think in the last two years I decided, I’m going to make myself happy. And that feels really good. And even if that created changes and caused my divorce, I think it’s important to be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy.”

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star also said being in her 40s has given her a fresh perspective on life.

“I’ve chosen myself. I think it’s okay to choose you,” she explained. “My 40s are about being Team Me. I’m going to eat well. I’m going to work out. I’m going to have more fun, spend more time with my kids and the people who make me happy. I’m going to put my phone down.”

The mum-of-four also discussed her strained relationship with Kanye and how she’s tackling co-parenting with him.

In recent weeks,Kanye has hit out at his ex on social media, in particular over the fact that their daughter North has a TikTok account.

Sharing a snap of North on the popular video sharing app, he wrote next to it: “SINCE THIS IS MY FIRST DIVORCE I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO ABOUT MY DAUGHTER BEING PUT ON TIK TOK AGAINST MY WILL?”

He also criticised Kim forallowing North to wear lipstick in one video.

"Don't have my daughter wearing lipstick on TikTok, or don't have her on TikTok at all, if I'm not there to approve that," he told Hollywood Unlocked.

Kim later his back in a statement on her Instagram page, where she said: "Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create.

"As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, | am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision – because it brings her happiness.

"Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all."
