Kim Kardashian Just Channeled Carrie Bradshaw in Vintage Dior

Kim Kardashian just threw it back to the year 2000 and channeled Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City with help from John Galliano.

The reality TV star was spotted in a white tank top and newspaper print pencil skirt, taken from Galliano’s Fall/Winter 2000 collection, and her inspiration for the look was instantly obvious. Kardashian fully committed to the style, even carrying a matching Dior Saddle bag much like Carrie Bradshaw. (The purse’s silhouette and logomania had a recent resurgence, so Kim’s look is both retro and perfectly on trend).

Her most surprising accessory? She threw on a pair of grey flip flops (yes, really!) to complete her throwback look. Kardashian also kept her glam equally as chic with a sleek straight bob, a brown smokey eye, and nude lipstick.

In 2000, Carrie Bradshaw donned a Dior newspaper print dress on season three of SATC. Bradshaw wore the sleeveless, décolletage baring number when she apologized to Natasha, Mr. Big’s wife at the time, for having an affair with him. It was très uncomfortable, but at least she looked chic:

?PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE THOT MOMENT? We can all agree that this John Galliano for Christian Dior newsprint dress is the fucking LOOK. However, surprising an acquaintance whose marriage you destroyed in this dress is NOT. The Dior newsprint dress has a sordid history befitting #FuckingCarrie. Galliano lifted the idea from a brilliant 1935 Elsa Schiaparelli print comprised of her own press clippings. The “Christian Dior Daily” print debuted during the infamous “Hobo Chic” couture collection of 2000. Galliano was inspired by the homeless people that he saw on the streets of Paris, presumably at 3AM during a Moët and coke-fueled bender. He also drew inspiration from Tramp Balls, which were essentially lavish 1920’s-30’s-era parties where Parisian socialites dressed up like poor people for fun. The show enraged critics and inspired the unforgettable “Derelicte” collection in Zoolander. Not fully satisfied with his flagrant aestheticization of poverty, Galliano reworked the newsprint theme into his next Ready-to-Wear show and this dress was born. So if you thought that Carrie was an insensitive bitch for stalking Natasha and ruining her marriage and lunch, remember that she is also a heartless bitch for appropriating destitution. But who are we kidding? This dress is, and will always be, everything. (S3/EP17) #CarrieBradshaw #MakeDiorThottyAgain #JohnGalliano #ElsaSchiaparelli #HoboChic #Derelicte #Iconic
