For a film that skewers traditional relationship dynamics, “Don’t Worry Darling” sure brought a lot of couples together. In addition to Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde, costars KiKi Layne and Ari’el Stachel also began dating after meeting on set in 2020. The real-life couple portrayed the married Margaret and Ted Watkins, and in a series of social media posts following the Sept. 23 theatrical release, the actors expressed gratitude for the film, despite many of their scenes being cut.

In a Sept. 25 post on Instagram, Layne said the “best thing” about “Don’t Worry Darling” is that it introduced her to Stachel. “They cut us from most of the movie, but we thriving in real life,” she said, adding, “Love you Ari.” Layne’s post included a selfie video the couple took while filming the pivotal Victory company party. (Margaret and Ted’s appearance at the party was not in the final edit.) Her hashtags included #GotMyCheck and #GotMyMan. Stachel commented, “My love. You are a queen and your talent shines so bright. I was thirsty then and I’m thirsty now.”

Stachel shared his own Instagram post with behind-the-scenes photos on Sept. 24. “My favorite part of my experience in Don’t Worry Darling. This woman did phenomenal work and I was thirsty the second I met her,” he said in a caption. Layne commented, “Love you. Grateful that God brought us together here.”

Layne previously earned critical acclaim for her portrayal of Tish Rivers in “If Beale Street Could Talk.” Stachel has primarily appeared on stage, and his performance in “The Band’s Visit” earned him a Tony Award for best featured actor in a musical in 2018. He made his film debut two years later in “Zola.” The talented pair made their first public appearance in 2021 when they attended the Public Theater’s annual gala in New York City.

Stachel has since shared some glimpses into the relationship, including a sweet video biking with Layne on his 31st birthday. Stachel was also there to support Layne when she recently appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and applauded her tireless work in the off-Broadway production “On Sugarland.” “I feel lucky to live in a time where I am able to be so inspired by, pushed by, seen by, encouraged by, and on and on and on by this incredible woman,” he wrote in a lengthy caption. “Keep flying baby.”
