Khloe Kardashian showcases her glamorous complexion as she slips into a skintight dress for Shein’s challenge finale – amid backlash for working with the ‘fast fashion’ brand

Khloé Kardashian commanded attention as she attended SHEIN X 100K Challenge 2021 on Sunday, after facing backlash for working with the brand. 

The 37-year-old reality star showcased her ever-changing complexion after slipping into a skintight midi dress emblazoned with sepia-toned portraits for the ‘non-traditional’ fashion event. 

Khloe previously faced huge backlash when she announced that she was working with Shein, because the the brand has been lambasted for knocking off smaller designers and other unethical practices.

For Shein’s event, which teamed up with the charities National Action Network and Youth Emerging Stronger, Khloe wore a glamorous face of makeup, which included a bronzed contour look and golden eyeshadow. 

Her fellow SHEIN X 100K Challenge judges, Christian Siriano, was seen walking the red carpet in an open red zebra button-down, black tank and leather pants.

He completed his look with his trademark black glasses, a silver necklace and matching bracelet while baring his inked arms, which included a massive octopus on his right arm. 

When Khloe first announced her involvement with Shein in August, she was dragged for partnering up with the brand.

It has been known to rip off smaller designers, and also fits the general ‘unethical’ mold of fast fashion, due to its environmental impacts. The site adds nearly 1,000 new pieces to their site daily with a price point of about $10.

‘Is this a joke??? After shein knocks off small designers,’ read one comment.

‘Shein is one of the most unethical fast fashion brands,’ wrote another user, while another comment read: ‘Fast fashion is bad for the environment – not cute.’

Another pointed out the irony of the brand championing a small designer challenge. ‘Lmaooooo Shein supporting small designers?! All they do is rip of small independent designers to make fast fashion tat.’

On Khloe’s most recent post one person wrote ‘not this brand collab the bar has never been lower.’

A Shein representative told Page Six Style: ‘Shein takes these issues very seriously and respects the intellectual property rights of artists and designers. We have policies and procedures in place to monitor and swiftly rectify any issues.’

The statement continued to say that the challenge was ‘developed to specifically support small independent talents and give them opportunity to grow their revenue streams, gain exposure, and tap a massive Gen Z audience across the globe.’

Speaking on behalf of the judges it was said that all of them ‘support emerging, small and independent designers.’

Later in the evening, Saweetie, 28, took the stage sporting a baby blue bra and matching tweed jacket and skirt with a diamond necklace.

Unfazed: After announcing her partnership with the Gen-Z beloved Chinese retailer, Khloe incurred much backlash as the brand has been lambasted for knocking off smaller designers and other unethical practices 

Speaking of the event on her Instagram Story, the Icy Grl hitmaker gushed to her followers: ‘Can’t wait to watch you guys today at 2 PM!’ 

Criss also teased his performance on his social media by posting a video from the event, which gave a look at all the entertainers that would be rocking out.

‘Hey friends- check out a crazy colorful, dance-fueled performance of For A Night Like This,’ he captioned the footage. ‘It’s a great lineup of artists, but an even more impressive lineup of dancers- all lookin super cool in their #SHEINFW21 threads.’

In addition to Kardashian and Siriano, SHEIN X 100K Challenge is judged by famous stylist Law Roach, beauty entrepreneur Jenna Lyons and InStyle Magazine’s style director Laurel Pantin.

Bold: Criss wore shiny gold sneakers, a patterned jacket and black trousers for his performance 

Roach and Siriano also faced criticism for their involvement in the project.

Siriano said he would be ‘deleting negative comments’ while Roach wrote: ‘My Tribe please just watch this when it airs and you will see why I choose to do this!!! I promise you will be proud of me.’

As Roach — who dresses the likes of Zendaya — continued to promote the show on his own Instagram, he also faced more criticism.

Chic: Jenna Lyons looked incredible in a jacket over a tulle skirt, which she styled with bright orange heels 

‘This brand is infamous for stealing designs from smaller brands and especially POC designers. I’m having a hard time understanding why you would want any association with them,’ read one comment.

Another user said ‘Unethical to be profiting on clothes made in sweatshops.’

Speaking on behalf of the judges it was said that all of them ‘support emerging, small and independent designers.’

The grand prize winner was a woman named Sashagai whose brand is called Flaws Of Couture. Her collection can now be purchased on the site.
