Kelsey Parker had a "heart to heart" with her late husband's mum following the news that she has embarked on a new romance, according to reports.
Kelsey, who was married to The Wanted's Tom Parker, is thought to have first hit it off with her new man Sean Bogganswhile attending a wedding in Greenwich, south London, in October.
Tom passed away in March aged just 33, after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in 2020.
Now, Kelsey is reported to have sat down with the late boybander's mum as she took the time to discuss her new relationship.
The Sun reports that the mum-of-two sat down with her late husband's mother Noreen sometime in the last week, with the pair having a rather emotional "heart-to-heart".
A source told the publication: "Explaining the situation to Noreen was one of the hardest things to do because Kelsey’s not even sure how she feels about it all right now It is all very new and her emotions are naturally all over the place.
"Kelsey is seen by Tom’s mum as part of the family and always will be so Noreen wanted to understand what was happening from Kelsey’s own mouth."
They added that there were "lots of tears" but that Noreen was adamant that "Tom would want Kelsey to be happy."
The insider continued: "Noreen knows how much Tom means to Kelsey and her love for him will never change, but she also understands she’s a young woman who needs to find a new future for herself.
"Ultimately that means she will find someone else to share her life with – and if that person is Sean, Noreen and the family will support Kelsey the whole way."
OK! has contacted Kelsey's representative for comment.
Speaking to OK!, relationship and grief therapist Tina Wilson said that she believes Kelsey is trying to "move forward" from the heartache of losing her partner of 13 years.
"Kelsey has experienced severe trauma," Tina explains. "Just because she is spending time with someone else, it does not mean she has stopped grieving for her beloved husband.
"Grief affects everyone in different ways, but unanimously it reminds us that life is precious and that we should find happiness in every moment that we can."
Tina added: "What she is doing is trying to shift the loneliness and pain she must feel and begin to live again, and move forward in some way.
"Spending time with someone completely unattached to her life will give her a break from her grief and provide a sense of a detached normality."
