Kate Hudson Explains ‘Genderless’ Parenting Comments About Her Daughter Rani Rose

Not so fast, everyone! Kate Hudson is setting the record straight about her “genderless” parenting remarks.

The 39-year-old ruffled a few feathers when she made these remarks (below) in an interview on joy, parenting, and what it’ll be like raising her first daughter Rani Rose with AOL:

“ doesn’t really change my approach, but there’s definitely a difference. I think you just raise your kids individually regardless — like a genderless . We still don’t know what she’s going to identify as.”

Doesn’t sound super crazy or off the wall, right? But still, Hudson felt that many took her words out of context, resulting in headlines that she wasn’t a fan of.

The momma of three took to Instagram to clarify those remarks, and shutdown any “click bait tactic” out there aiming to say otherwise. Keeping the comments section of her post disabled, she explains:

“Me saying a ‘genderless approach’ was a way of refocusing the conversation in a direction that could exist outside of the female stereotype. It just felt a little antiquated to me. Not all girls want to be a princess, some want to be king. And that’s fine by me.”
