Josie Gibson has revealed the safe way she’s dropped two and a half stone in just three months.
The Big Brother winner, who gave birth to son Reggie-James in September 2018 with ex-boyfriend Terry, lifted the lid on her staggering weight loss, which saw her go from a size 18 to a 12 in just nine weeks.
Her weight loss journey comes after the former yo-yo dieter dropped six stone in just a year in 2013.
She was shocked into losing weight after seeing pictures of herself in a bikini on holiday, and dropped from 16st 7lb and a size 18 to 10st 2lb by kicking her diet and exercise regime into gear.
Josie cut out all sugar apart from fruit after finding out she’d been a sugar addict for 20 years, and stuck a picture of Raquel Welch on her fridge for inspiration.
Now the reality star and mum of one is determined to lose her last 1.7 stone after giving birth to her first child six months ago.
In February, she shared before and after pictures of herself in gymwear, telling followers that she’s already down three dress sizes from her post-birth weight.
"Bye bye back fat!!! Sorry you have to see this!" she captioned the shots.
"I’m so nearly there, I have my waist back and it feels amazing. I only want to be a size 12!! I haven’t put a lot of pressure on myself and I have not exercised like I used to but it’s coming off."
Two weeks later, Josie took to Instagram in a series of videos to give tips and guidance to other new mums who want to drop their baby weight.
Here’s how she did it.
Have one cheat meal, not a whole day
Josie followed a plan called The Unthinkable, which recommends taking one cheat day a week to relax and enjoy whatever you want.
But Josie says it’s important not to go overboard.
"So I did the six-day plan on Do The Unthinkable, which entitled me to one day off. Now on that one day off, I had one cheat meal – I didn’t go crazy and drink 10 bottles of wine and binge all day on food and chocolate and all the naughty things I haven’t been having, I just had my one cheat and that was it," she said.
"So if you’ve got that one day off, don’t undo all your hard work. Just have your one cheat meal and enjoy it. Don’t have a day binge."
Do 30 minutes of exercise every single day
Josie upped her exercise each day, even when she didn’t want to.
"Make time for that workout, and I need to take my own bloody advice, actually," she told fans.
"The hardest thing about a workout is thinking about doing it. Most of the time when I’ve just cracked on with it, I didn’t have time to think about it and talk myself out of it. Plus, when I finish a workout I’ve felt so proud of myself and so happy with myself.
"I love that strong feeling that you get when you’re getting fit and healthy again. So make time for that half an hour a day, you won’t regret it," she advised.
Try intermittent fasting
Studies have shown how eating in a shorter period of time over 24 hours can help cut out calories and may even decrease bloating because there’s more time between the end of your last meal and bedtime.
"The way you eat your meals is very important. I eat my Do The Unthinkable meals within an eight-hour period. So I’d wake up in the morning and have my breakfast about 8 or 9am, then I’d have my lunch at midday, 1pm, and then I’d have my tea at 4pm, so it was all digested in an eight-hour period, which gives me 16 hours then to metabolise and digest my food properly," Josie revealed.
Break down the weight
Josie pointed out how having lots of weight to lose can seem insurmountable, meaning you’re more likely to fall off the wagon and undo all the hard work.
"I started over 16 stone and I broke it down to 6lb segments, so every time I lost 6lb I got a treat," she said.
"I got two pairs of trainers, I’m going on a spa day with my friends, and it just makes you look forward to that 6lb weight-loss.
"You can do it every 7lb, but 6lb you get more treats! So break it down into small segments and really reward yourself – and believe it or not, weight loss can actually be quite good fun."
Don’t pressure yourself
"My number one tip would be to not put any stress on yourself," Josie added.
"I’ve had a lot of questions from new mummies and I know with childbirth comes a lot of weight gain, but don’t put pressure on yourself. You’ve just brought a life into the world, your body needs to recover from childbirth. You are probably sleep deprived, your sleep is when you recover. Do it when you’re good and ready.
"I waited until Reggie was three months old and I’d just put him on to the bottle as well."
