Josh Waring may finally be getting some justice behind bars.
Former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Lauri Peterson’s son told Page Six via phone that officers in the Intake/Release Center in Orange County, Calif., have been nicer to him since he filed a formal complaint worth $2 million against them after a pepper balling (which is similar to pepper spray) incident.
“They’ve made some changes,” Waring said. “I’ve noticed that a lot of the deputies are less confrontational. They’re aware that I’m fighting back.”
“They’ve been better. I think they’re realizing that it’s getting political that it doesn’t make them look good. So they’ve kind of backed off.”
Both Waring and Peterson, 57, insisted to us that Waring’s attempted murder case is becoming increasingly important to Orange County officials because of the elections taking place later this year.
His case has become extremely messy as Waring told us that he and his lawyer Joel Garson allege they keep uncovering more misconduct by the county as their pretrial investigation continues. So far, it has been discovered that at least 1,400 of his jail calls were intercepted, recorded and listened to against a court order. He is currently suing for $1.4 million in the matter.
Waring, 30, told us that his suits aren’t about the money, but about getting a remedy for their errors.
Now, he’s due to appear back in court in three weeks and hopes to have his case dismissed in October.
“I wouldn’t say I’m nervous because I know I’m innocent so I want this to happen,” he said. “It is nerve-wracking. I’ll say that. I’m anxious but I do look forward to trial. Obviously, I prefer this case to be dismissed but I want to be exonerated. I want to be acquitted.”
Still, Waring is brushing up on the law and maintains his plan to become a lawyer after he is acquitted.
