Johnny Depp fans say he looks like Captain Jack with 'rotten' teeth

Johnny Depp fans say he looks just like Captain Jack Sparrow with his ‘rotten’ teeth at Cannes Film Festival as actor shuns Hollywood makeover to show off his natural gnashers

Johnny Depp fans said he looked like Captain Jack Sparrow as he showed off his ‘rotten’ teeth while making his Hollywood comeback at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday.

The actor, 59, received a seven-minute standing ovation at the premiere of his  film Jeanne du Barry after his blockbuster court trial saw his ex-wife Amber Heard ordered to pay him $8million in damages.

But fans couldn’t help but pick up on the actor’s smile and how his browning teeth showed visible signs of decay as he posed for photographers on the red carpet.

Johnny recently signed a $20million cologne deal with Dior, thanks to his striking looks and charm.

But unlike many Hollywood stars, the actor has shunned spending thousands on pearly white veneers or expensive composite bonding.

Fans took to Twitter to urge Johnny to go to the dentist.

‘Very, very, very inspired to brush my teeth, floss and use a tongue scraper every time I see a pic of Johnny Depp at Cannes,’ one user said.

‘@Dior Johnny Depp needs to see a dentist. His teeth make him look unhealthy,’ another wrote.

‘Johnny Depp’s teeth appear to be rotting,’ a third chimed.

‘Johnny Depp appears to have forgotten to brush his teeth this morning,’ a different Tweet read.

But a different user said: ‘If Johnny Depp doesn’t want fake ultra white teeth he doesn’t need them. I have seen a lot worse as well.’

Johnny is known for transforming his smile depending on the roles he plays. For Pirates of the Caribbean he had extensive gold capping of his teeth.

He held onto the gold caps until filming closed on the third installment of the franchise.

Johnny has also been open about his battle with substance abuse and told the court during the defamation trial he’d tried ‘every kind of drug known to man’ by age 14.

Drug use can erode tooth enamel and expose the underlying dentine to decay-causing bacteria.

During the premiere on Tuesday, Johnny welled up with tears as he received a seven minute standing ovation for his comeback film.

The acclaimed actor – who plays King Louis XV in the period drama – teared up while taking in the moment with director and co-star Maïwenn by his side.

The film is Depp’s first project since he was blackballed by Hollywood in the years following his ex-wife Amber Heard’s abuse allegations in 2016.

But after a six-week trial last year, it was determined that Heard had defamed her ex-husband and she was ordered to pay him over $8million in damages — though they later agreed on $1million in order to put an end to their legal battle.

The Edward Scissorhands star was greeted with applause and supported by a sea of adoring fans upon his arrival.

Depp couldn’t hide his delight about being back in the Hollywood fold, after previously being dropped from several projects during the trial, including the Fantastic Beasts film franchise.

According to reports, throngs of onlookers shouted ‘Johnny!’ as Depp, in purple-hued sunglasses signed autographs and edged back into the spotlight.

Jeanne du Barry has been billed as Depp’s comeback – though his prominent presence at Cannes has been hotly debated.

Despite earning a standing ovation, the critics had mixed reactions to Depp’s performance and the film itself.
