John Cena touches on whether he is ready to start a family with his wife of one year Shay: ‘You have to have passion for it’
John Cena has touched on whether or not he wants kids.
When appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show the actor, 44, the actor did not come out and say that he wanted to start a family with wife of one year Shay Shariatzadeh, but he did offer some hints.
‘This is just my perspective, totally not qualified, but I think just because you might be good at something, for me, is not a strong enough reason to do that,’ Nikki Bella’s ex-boyfriend shared with Drew.

‘You have to have passion for it. You have to have a fuel for it. It’s like saying to someone, “Man, you know you are pretty good with your hands. You would be a great carpenter,”‘ he added.
The Drew Barrymore Show host began the episode with complimenting the wrestler and said that she believes he would be ‘the world’s greatest father’.
John followed up with: ‘First of all, thank you for the comment. I really enjoy my life. I have been riding a lightning bolt for quite some time now. I have been given opportunities to do and see things that man, I didn’t even dream of and I had some pretty lofty dreams.’

‘It’s hard work. It’s hard work to balance the time, I need to run myself correctly. It’s hard work to be the best partner and husband I can be to my loving wife. It’s hard to keep connections with those in my life that I love. And it’s also hard to put in an honest day’s work,’ he shared.
John and his wife Shay first met in early 2019 and were first spotted having a romantic dinner date in her native Vancouver in March 2019, while John was in Canada to film Playing With Fire.
In a whirlwind romance, the couple tied the knot in a private ceremony in Tampa, Florida. John was previously engaged to his fellow WWE star, Nikki Bella, and he proposed in April 2017. The couple never made it down the aisle after their split in 2018. Nikki revealed a few years after the split that his hesitancy to have children played a major role in her decision.
