John Boyega has said he’d be keen to take on the iconic role of James Bond if Steve McQueen was sat in the directing chair.
The Star Wars actor, 28, threw his hat into the ring to play 007 now the role is up for grabs and he’s confident he could bring ‘something different’ to the table along with the help of McQueen.
Boyega worked alongside Oscar-winning director McQueen on new BBC Three mini-series Small Axe and clearly impressed with his pal’s work, he offered them both up for the new era of Bond.
The franchise’s upcoming film No Time To Die, set for release in April next year, will be the last to star Daniel Craig as the legendary secret agent.
Asked if he fancies his chances as Bond, Boyega told MTV News: ‘Hey listen, Steve McQueen directing, let’s do this! We could show them something different.’
‘We’ll still bring that sophistication, you know, James Bond has to be James Bond, but we could do something with that,’ he teased.
‘You know that moment is going to go global and if I don’t get cast because people or casting directors feel like it’s too much friction for what they’re trying to do… then it is what it is.’
