Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘Joker’ Wins Top Prize at Venice Film Festival

The upcoming movie Joker has taken home the Golden Lion Award, the top prize at the 2019 Venice Film Festival!

Joaquin Phoenix and director Todd Phillips were on hand to accept the award during the festival’s closing ceremony on Saturday (September 7) in Venice, Italy.

The runner-up award, the Grand Jury Prize, went to controversial director Roman Polanski‘s new film An Officer and a Spy.

Joker is going to be released in theaters on October 4 and it has been getting rave reviews along with plenty of Oscar buzz. Make sure to see photos from the red carpet premiere, where Joaquin was joined by his fiancee Rooney Mara.
