Jill Duggar rips her father Jim Bob Duggar in her new book Counting the Cost, saying that he treated her convicted sex offender sibling Josh Duggar better than he did her.
In the memoir, which is due out Tuesday, Jill, 32, went into detail about her rift with her father, 58, telling him, ‘You treat me worse than you treat my pedophile brother.’
Jill said the comment came when she and her husband Derick Dillard, 34, confronted Jim Bob about money, as they felt they were not properly compensated for their contributions to the family’s one-time TLC hit 19 Kids and Counting.
Josh, 35 – who had molested Jill and four other girls in earlier years – is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence in connection with his 2021 conviction of downloading and possessing child sexual abuse images.
She shared excerpts from the memoir with People in regards to the incident in which she made the sharp comment toward her father.

In a statement to the outlet, Jim Bob and wife Michelle Duggar said they were reticent to continue the family discussion in public.
‘We love all of our children very much,’ they said. ‘As with any family, few things are more painful than conflicts or problems among those you love.
‘We do not believe the best way to resolve conflicts, facilitate forgiveness and reconciliation, or to communicate through difficulties is through the media or in a public forum so we will not comment.’
Jill said that a mediator was present when she and her spouse met with Jim Bob and Michele over the issue.
She said in the memoir that she told them, ‘There have been some very hurtful things that have happened, and so we wanted to sort it all out. To have a good discussion together.
‘We love y’all and I know we all hope to be able to restore family relationships very soon.’
She said that her father’s ‘body language had shifted’ in the meeting.
‘He was sitting very still, lips tight, eyes locked in a scowl that had been sculpted out of rock,’ Jill said in the memoir.
Jill said that her mother described a letter she sent them over the financial issues as ‘the most disrespectful thing’ she ever read.
Jill said she could tell that Jim Bob ‘wasn’t listening to’ her and ‘had his own list of things he wanted to talk about.’

She said he told her, ‘You sent me a text message, Jill. You said I was verbally abusing you. I was so offended by that, too. You know in your heart that’s not right. Are you going to apologize for that?’
Jill continued: ‘Pops must have sensed what I was thinking, because he suddenly stood up’ and told her ‘You’re not going to apologize? Really?
‘His voice was loud, and there was an edge to it that I’d rarely heard.’
Jill said her father ‘took a step toward’ her in ‘an act of aggression.’
She continued: ‘He towered over me, his whole body fueled with anger. My face flushed red. My eyes filled with tears.’
Jill said he told her, ‘You know why you’re crying, don’t you? Your conscience is talking to you. That’s why.’
Jill said that Jim Bob’s ‘words were like blows’ as he chided her, ‘You’re guilty!’ while ‘stabbing a finger at’ her and ‘standing right over’ her.
She said that she told him in response, ‘You want to know why I’m crying? It’s that you think I’m some kind of horrible person just because I wear pants and have a nose ring, and yet you see that girl outside and praise her.’
Jill added, ‘That’s why I’m crying, Daddy. I’m evolving and changing, just like that girl out there, but you can’t see it. You treat me like I’m a prodigal who’s turned her back on you. You treat me worse than you treat my pedophile brother.’
Jill Duggar has candidly revealed how her appearance on reality shows almost destroyed her marriage to husband Derick Dillard
The 32-year-old, who found fame on 19 Kids and Counting as well as spin-off Counting On, has opened up about the toll that filming took on her relationship
In the book, Jill has candidly revealed how her appearance on TLC’s infamous reality shows almost destroyed her marriage to husband Derick Dillard.
Jill, who found fame on 19 Kids and Counting as well as spin-off Counting On, has opened up about the toll that filming took on her relationship.
She admitted that she feared constantly being on camera was ‘going to rip them apart’ – particularly after the pair tied the knot in 2014.
It comes after the Duggar family’s dirty laundry was aired in a documentary about their sensational fall from grace.
Jill and Derick said that they often felt obligated to make themselves available for 20 hours every week for filming, with the mother-of-three recently telling People: ‘It caused a lot of frustration in our marriage.
‘Especially early on, where he would feel a certain way about filming something. I’d be like, “I hear you, I feel you, I also don’t want to do whatever it is they’re asking us to do either. But we have to.”‘
Their memoir titled Counting The Cost, which will be released next week, also states that ‘it began to feel like a burden’ – and instead they were keen to step away from the cameras after getting married to embark on a life of their own.
Nonetheless, Jill’s desire to please her parents – which was in line with the religious teachings of the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) – only added to the constant pressure.
Speaking about how she and Derick regularly fought over the show, she told the publication: ‘It definitely got between us.’

Jill also claimed that father Jim Bob (seen with wife Michelle) added fuel to the fire by ‘weaponizing’ their relationship and attempting to drive a wedge between them
Speaking about the strict religious rules that governed her life, she admitted that they started to come between herself and her spouse because her faith gave her parents almost complete control over her every decision.
”No matter your age, you are to obey your parents wishes and you even have to ask them for their blessing for any major moment in your life,’ she said. ‘That could be buying a house, moving to a different state, where to go to school.
‘We were dealing with this a lot when we were trying to make decisions for our family, and we were really wrestling back and forth with it.’
She also claimed that father Jim Bob added fuel to the fire by ‘weaponizing’ the family’s faith and attempting to drive a wedge between them.
Jill concluded: ‘When I saw how it was affecting our marriage, I think that was another wake-up call for me.
‘It was like, okay, we need to either fight this battle together, or it’s going to rip us apart. So we had to join forces at that point.’
In an Instagram post back in May, Jill promised to reveal dirty secrets about her family in her book and said that she and Derick will unveil the ‘secrecy and lies’ that they were privy to during the Duggars’ lengthy reign as reality TV’s greatest dynasty.
Derick, 34, serves as the co-author and the memoir will detail the couple’s ‘painful journey’ of filming the hit reality TV show Counting On.
Of course, this is not the first time Jill is speaking out about her upbringing as part of the Duggar family.
She broke her silence in Amazon Prime’s explosive documentary, Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, which explored the family’s sensational fall from grace.
In it, the star revealed the Duggars received $18 million over the course of their 21 seasons on TV but, according to Jill, she and her siblings weren’t given a dime of it during their time in the show.
Instead, she claimed it all went into her father’s pocket.

She claimed that her dad tricked her into signing a contract that forced her to continue filming against her will, and that she was given no choice but to video tape the birth of her son despite her telling the production crew that she wasn’t comfortable with it.
Jill explained that she was asked to sign a contract on the day before her marriage to Derick but said she was never actually shown the full thing, only the ‘signature page.’
She also broke down in tears while revealing the extreme measures Jim Bob took to cover up brother Josh’s crimes.
When a bombshell report hit the web in 2015 that claimed Josh, now 35, had admitted to molesting four of his siblings years prior, and that his own parents, Jim Bob, now 58, and Michelle Duggar, now 56, knew about it and failed to report the abuse – it completely shattered the wholesome on-screen image that the family had worked so hard to build over the course of their multiple TLC reality shows.

According to Jill, when news of Josh’s alleged abuse was made public in 2015, her dad’s main focus was protecting the family’s squeaky-clean reputation – rather than the victims.
She recalled an ‘urgency’ in ‘trying to figure out’ how the show could continue on in the wake of the scandal.
Following the release of Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, Michelle and Jim Bob released a statement that read: ‘The recent documentary that talks about our family is sad because in it we see the media and those with ill intentions hurting people we love.
‘Like other families, ours too has experienced the joys and heartbreaks of life, just in a very public format.
‘This documentary paints so much and so many in a derogatory and sensationalized way because sadly that’s the direction of entertainment these days.’
