Jennifer Aniston’s former ‘vocal tic’ on Friends is exposed by a TikTok user: ‘If you’re a big fan of that show, I’m begging you, scroll away’

Friends fans have claimed their ‘lives have been ruined’ after a viral video exposed Jennifer Aniston’s vocal tic on the sitcom, which ran from 1994 to 2004. 

One TikTok user – whose account name is cts.trphe – pointed out that the  Golden Globe winner regularly makes a throat-clearing sound at the start of her every line on the smash-hit NBC series with a very devoted fan base. 

‘What I’m about to say is going to ruin your life. It’s going to ruin your life especially if you are a big fan of the show Friends,’ the content creator prefaced in an upload posted on Jan. 14.

He warned: ‘If you’re a big fan of that show, I’m begging you, scroll away because I’m going to ruin your life.’ 

‘Jennifer Aniston has this sort of vocal tic that she does at the beginning of every single sentence that she starts on any show that she’s in. It’s very specific and it’s very hard to unsee once you notice it,’ the TikToker said. 

The clip, then, pans to more than a dozen scenes scenes of her ‘vocal tic’ as she portrayed Rachel Green for ten seasons.

As evidenced by the footage, Aniston did have a habit of clearing her throat, especially before telling a joke or particularly funny line. 

‘Yes! She does this so much,’ one viewer commented. ‘A lot of people have crutches when acting when they don’t know what else to do. A lot of people sigh or grunt, etc.’ 

Another argued: ‘She’s… acting. She does it when the character/situations are awkward.’

The release date for season two is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, Aniston also recently admitted that she considered retiring from acting.

The Friends alum says there have been times over the last couple of years where she has considered giving up her working life.

Next step? If the actress did quit Hollywood, she would definitely consider going into interior design. When asked what she’d be doing instead, she added: ‘Interior design, probably. I love it. It’s my happy place. It’s really a happy place for me’ (pictured on November 10, 2019)

She shared: ‘I would have to say the last two years that has crossed my mind, which it never did before. A different unprepared project … sucked the life out of me.

‘I don’t know if this is what interests me, [I remember thinking],’ she revealed on an episode of the SmartLess podcast.
