Jennifer Aniston has been leaning on ex-husband Justin Theroux for support as she continues to mourn the loss of her father nearly nine months on, DailyMail.com has learned.

The Friends alum, 54, was left deeply grief-stricken by the death of her dad, Days of Our Lives star John Aniston, who passed away last November at the age of 89.

Inside sources tell DailyMail.com the actress’s prolonged battle with grief has seen her cling to a tight-knit support system which includes some of her father’s former co-stars on the long-running soap opera.

Ex-husband Justin Theroux, who she divorced in 2017 after just two years of marriage, has also been a close source of comfort, with the actor calling her almost every day to console her, insiders say.

The actress’s father, Days of Our Lives star John Aniston, passed away last November at the age of 89

The couple tied the knot in 2015 after four years of dating and shocked fans when they announced their separation just two years later.

Despite their split, the two have indicated that they still maintain a close relationship, occasionally celebrating birthdays and holidays together.

In a rare, candid interview earlier this year, Theroux himself revealed that the exes still keep in touch through text, Facetime, and phone calls.

And a few months earlier in November, Jennifer in an interview also alluded to their close friendly relationship by revealing Theroux had recently dropped by her home at the time.

The Hollywood star first lost her mother, Nancy Dow, with whom she had a strained relationship throughout her career, in 2016.

She was also estranged from her father for years, but had been on good terms with him at the time of his death.

Sources say Jennifer has had a particularly hard time coping with his loss and has even reached out to his former co-stars and hosted them at her home.

‘Jennifer has sent his friends gifts and called them and remember their birthdays and been a real sweetie,’ an insider told DailyMail.com.

Jennifer’s strained relationships with both parents, John and Nancy – who died in 2016 – had been documented throughout her career, but she had been on good terms with her father at the time of his death

John Aniston appeared on long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives on and off as Victor Kiriakis from 1985 until his death last year

‘She has been incredibly generous and has had his friends up to her house for parties to talk about the good old days with John.’

Aniston had appeared on the soap opera on and off as Victor Kiriakis from 1985 until his death, however, the show is yet to address his character’s absence.

But DailyMail.com has learned that showrunners are now planning to kill off his character in a plane crash, much to Jennifer’s disappointment.

‘Jennifer hates to fly so this has rubbed her the wrong way but what can she do? They have to explain Victor’s death on the show,’ the source said.

‘The funeral show is expected to air sometime late August, early September.’

Meanwhile, the NBC soap has already been facing its own real-life drama behind the scenes.

A Deadline report last week revealed director/co-executive producer Albert Alarr was the subject of a nine-week internal investigation after misconduct allegations were made against him by numerous parties.

Corday Productions confirmed the investigation in a statement and said the company had ‘taken a series of actions designed to ensure a safe and respectful work environment’ – but did not elaborate on the specifics of what those measures are.
