Jamie Oliver reveals he’s been forced to film his new cooking show from home on his MOBILE amid the coronavirus pandemic as his wife Jools is drafted in as the camera crew

  • Coronavirus symptoms: what are they and should you see a doctor?

He launched his new cooking show last month, offering up easy recipes and cooking tips using items typically found in one’s cupboard.

However, Jamie Oliver has revealed that he’s now been forced to film his show Keep Cooking and Carry On from his home using his mobile phone amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The professional chef, 44, broke the new on Instagram on Monday and also revealed his wife Jools Oliver, 45, would be acting as his crew.

Change of plan: Jamie Oliver has revealed that he’s now been forced to film his show Keep Cooking and Carry On from his home using his mobile phone amid the coronavirus pandemic

Speaking into the camera, he greeted his fans before explaining the situation.

He said: ‘We turned around last week’s series of Keep Cooking and Carry On very very quickly. A three-month job in three days.

‘Of course now the government have said we have to stay at home, so we’re doing that. And we’re now going to be doing the second season, like we ever expected this, we never planned it, in our home.’

He then went on to say that he has ‘no crew’ to film the show and that his wife of 20 years Jools would be stepping in to fill the crew’s shoes.

He continued: ‘There’s no crew, no equipment, I’m doing it on my phone. My new crew member is my wife.’

Panning the camera around to a room where Jools was sitting by a window, Jamie added: ‘We’re doing it in the coldest part of the house, because it’s got decent light here. The sound is terrible so we put the sofas around like that.’

He then showed his sofas leaned up against the walls in a bid to block out external sound. He also showed a table set up to create his latest recipe.

He went on to wish fans well and urged them to tune into the next episode of the cooking show.

He catapulted to fame in 1999 at the age of 24 when he was offered his own TV show, The Naked Chef, on the back of his stint working at The River cafe in London.

However, Jamie has had a turbulent past year following 22 of his Jamie’s Italian restaurants closing in May 2019.

Administrators recently revealed that much of the £80million-plus owed by the collapsed Italian chain, launched by the chef in 2008, will probably never be paid back to creditors. This resulted in as many as 1,000 job losses.

Keep Cooking and Carry On airs week nights at 5.30pm on Channel 4.
