Jamie Dornan on losing mom to cancer: ‘You never get over it’

Two decades after his mother Lorna’s pancreatic cancer death, Jamie Dornan can still feel its mark.

Dornan, now 36, said losing a loved one at a young age can have a “horrific” influence on your life.

“They are daily and continue to have an effect — you feel that they are manifesting over time in a way you didn’t expect them to,” the actor, who hails from Northern Ireland, told the BBC.

The “Fifty Shades” star, who now has two young daughters — Dulcie and Elva — with wife Amelia Warner, admitted it’s hard to move on.

“You never get over it and now that I have kids myself I see they don’t have a grandmother from my side — that’s an odd thing,” Dornan, who lost his mom when he was just 16 years old, added.

Now, Dornan is supporting NI PanC, a pancreatic cancer support group, which launched Wednesday at a Belfast hospital, according to the BBC.

“I’ve always wanted to be associated to a charity that means something to me in a major way. It all seemed very fitting I could do whatever I can promote awareness of this horrendous disease,” the star said.
