Jameela Jamil slams fashion industry after Elle Fanning FAINTS at Cannes due to dress

Jameela Jamil has hit out at the fashion industry following Elle Fanning fainting at Cannes because her dress was “too tight”.

The young actress attended the esteemed event in a sample size Prada dress, and reportedly fainted during a dinner at the French film festival on Monday evening because of the snug fit, according to Variety.

The 21-year-old later posted a selfie to Instagram, blaming the incident on her 1950s Prada dress being too tight, adding a hashtag about it being her “time of the month”.

British actress and TV presenter Jameela, a vocal body-positivity campaigner, said it was proof of a deeper issue within the fashion industry.

Never one to shy away from conflict, the Good Place actress slammed the tiny dress design during a rant on Twitter.

Writing on Twitter to her 824,000 followers, she said: “Jesus Christ, reading about Elle Fanning, a very thin actress FAINTING because her sample size Prada dress was too tight, and then blaming it on her period, rather than the fact that sample sizes are f**king insane these days… is symptomatic of a huge problem in fashion.”

A few minutes later she replied to her original tweet, and wrote: “Incredibly slender Elle shouldn’t be blaming herself for being a few pounds heavier on her period.”

Making sure no one made assumptions on what she had previously said, Jameela put: “To be clear this is not me hitting out at Elle Fanning, but at the fashion industry for making a grown woman faint in their clothing.”

Many fans took to Twitter to praise the TV star for taking down the fashion industry.

One wrote: “Louder for the ones in the back. Bless you for speaking the truth.”

While another put: “Do you know why I love you? Because you don’t hesitate to call out any type of s**t.”

Jameela has been vocal about her body issues among women, and the need to shut down celebrities promoting unhealthy diet products via their Instagram.

The 33-year-old set up a new initiative called I Weigh which hopes to break down the stigma of body shaming.
