I'm A Celeb: Viewers accuse stars of 'acting starved'

I’m A Celebrity 2020: ‘Is that what Jesus was like at the Last Supper?’ Fans slam campmates for ‘acting like they’ve been starved for months’ as they fawn over bread and butter

They’ve been in the confines of Gwrych Castle since Sunday evening.

And I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! viewers couldn’t resist poking fun at this year’s crop of stars when they fawned over a prize of bread and butter, saying they were ‘acting like they’ve been starved for months’.

AJ Pritchard and Jessica Plummer emerged victorious in the Castle Coin Challenge during Wednesday night’s episode and won fresh bread and butter from Kiosk Cledwyn.

When they returned to camp, the celebrities cheered and gathered around the bread to take turns sniffing it, with Beverley Callard proclaiming: ‘That was the best bread I’ve ever tasted.’

They had a choice of bread and butter or sweet popcorn and chose bread and butter as it would be more filling.

However, viewers quickly took to social media and said the celebrities were ‘losing their heads’ over bread, despite having only been away from the real world for a few days.

One fan wrote: ‘They’ve only been in there four days and they’re acting like they’ve forgotten what bread tastes like.’

Another said: ‘Have I missed something? 3 days in and they’re losing their heads over bread.’

One viewer added: ‘They’ve only been in there 3 days and they’re acting like they’ve been starved for months. Grow up.’

Another wrote: ‘Do you reckon that’s what Jesus was like at the Last Supper?’

During the challenge, AJ and Jessica entered a room which had a maze of wooden boxes blocking locked safes which contained castle coins.

Reaction: Many viewers poked fun at the camp mates for being so happy to receive bread and butter after only three days in the castle

They had to move the boxes around to find the correct path to unlock the safes and get the castle coins.

AJ had a strategic plan to move the boxes around but it didn’t work so they had to start all over again.

The pair had difficulty opening the locks in the beginning with AJ saying: ‘It didn’t work and now we have to manouver all these boxes.

‘For us, not getting those coins was not an option,’ Jessica said, before the pair finally managed to get their hands on them.

They successfully completed the challenge and went to visit Kiosk Cledwyn.

Kiosk Cledwyn called the camp and Vernon Kay answered the phone, the question was what are the colours of the Welsh flag.

They got the answer correct and Kiosk Cledwyn gave AJ and Jessica the bread and butter.

The Castle Coin Challenge will hopefully bring AJ to the forefront of viewers’ minds as some claimed they’d forgotten he was taking part in the show, having ‘said about five words in three episodes’.

The dancer was lowered into the castle on Sunday night’s launch show, alongside the likes of Vernon Kay, Shane Richie and Mo Farah, but has barely appeared on screen since.

Another questioned whether AJ made the right move quitting Strictly, musing: ‘Can’t believe AJ quit strictly to appear on #imacelebrity for a combined 26 seconds so far.’

Another asked: ‘Is AJ still on #ImACeleb or has he fallen down the well?’

AJ’s mother, however, has been replying to AJ’s Instagram posts [even though he’s not the one posting them] claiming she’s voting for him to do a trial.

In another post, whoever is running AJ’s account flat-out pleaded for the public to vote him for a trial, to see more of him.
