I'm A Celeb fans go wild for Charlene White's hilarious reaction

‘She looks like Jim from The Office!’ I’m A Celeb fans go wild for Charlene White’s hilarious reaction after Matt Hancock defends his decision to enter the jungle

Matt Hancock’s controversial arrival in the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! jungle sparked an incredulous reaction from the camp on Wednesday.

And for many fans, Charlene White’s reaction to the MP’s attempts to justify his decision reflected the mood of the entire nation, with her expression leaving viewers in utter hysterics.

Taking to Twitter, fans were quick to compare Charlene’s camera glance to Jim Halpert from The Office, after the broadcaster appeared visibly unimpressed by Matt’s insistence that he was entering the jungle so viewers could ‘see the real him.’

Amusing: I’m A Celebrity fans were left in hysterics by Charlene’s hilarious to-camera expression while grilling Matt Hancock about his decision to enter the jungle

Following Matt’s arrival in the camp, Charlene was quick to grill the former Health Secretary about his decision to sign up for the series.

She asked: ‘So why did you do it?’

Matt responded: ‘Because there’s, honest truth, is because there’s so few ways in which politicians can show that we’re human beings, so I just thought it would be good to do that. I’ve got a sense of adventure.’

Chatting: Following Matt’s arrival in the camp, Charlene was quick to grill the former Health Secretary about his decision to sign up for the series

Charlene asked: ‘So you kind of want people to see you for you?’

Matt admitted: ‘I hope so.’

Charlene went onto say in the Bush Telegraph: ‘Matt has a tough hill to climb, but he’s put himself on that hill and for me as a journalist, I have to ask him why?’

Matt said to Charlene: ‘If I can use this to sort of peel myself back a bit and just be me, it’s better.’

Explanation: The politician said: ‘Because there’s, honest truth, is because there’s so few ways in which politicians can show that we’re human beings’

Charlene replied: ‘But I can imagine it would not have gone down well at all at home? You have to expect that. Because Parliament is still sitting, we’re not in recess, you know…’

Matt said: ‘I genuinely think that because we’ve now got sort of stability that is…’

Charlene stated: ‘We’ve had stability for all of five minutes Matt.’

Matt replied: ‘Rishi’s great, he’ll be fine.’

Charlene said: ‘But you can understand if people aren’t very happy at home about it?’

Matt said: ‘I understand that. But I also.. of course I get that, right. But I also just think that sometimes you’ve got to do things differently.’

Charlene said: ‘I’m not sure going on I’m A Celebrity is the way to do it but you’re doing you and it’s a decision you’ve made and honestly it will be fascinating just to see.’

During the chat, it was Charlene’s unimpressed reaction that quickly caught the attention of fans, with many comparing her expression to Jim’s famous glances towards the camera on The Office.

One tweeted: ‘Charlene’s face says it all LMFAO,’ while another added: ‘Just Charlene absolutely nailing The Office ‘Jim stares into the camera.’

A third captioned the hilarious snap: ‘Charlene realising she’s not trapped in the jungle with Matt Hancock, Matt is trapped in the jungle with her.’

One also tweeted: ‘Charlene side eyeing in the camera like this,’ while one also posted: ‘NOT CHARLENE DOING THE OFFICE LOOK AT THE CAMERA.’

Following her chat with Matt, an unconvinced Charlene added in the Bush Telegraph: ‘Politicians do tend to use that line, ‘I feel as though the public need to know the real me’. I’m not necessarily sure a reality TV show is the way to do that.’

After their chat, Boy George and Chris asked Charlene how it went.

Noted: Speaking to the Bush Telegraph, Charlene went onto add: ‘You can understand if people aren’t very happy at home about it?’

Charlene replied: ‘Oh, the same reasons politicians give every time they do these kinds of shows… ‘you need to know who we are behind the political mask’ kind of thing.’

Chris said: ‘He’s taken a few weeks off his job.’

Charlene said: ‘I asked that. ‘The government’s in a good place’. I was like, Rishi’s only been in five minutes, so how can you know that?’

Chris continued: ‘What about his constituents?’

Elsewhere in the episode, Matt and Seann Walsh completed their first trial for camp, earning six out of 11 stars.

The late arrivals were tasked with scrambling through claustrophobic tunnels while being showered with bugs on the hunt for stars.

Jungle debut: Elsewhere in the episode, Matt and Seann Walsh completed their first trial for camp, earning six out of 11 stars

Former Health Secretary Matt took on the lead, confidently crawling through the tunnels with a more nervous Seann on his tail.

Seann and Matt were then tasked with another challenge, to complete secret undercover tasks as moles to win luxury items.

At the end of the episode, Ant and Dec arrived in camp to tell the celebs who would be doing the next trial, Tentacles of Terror.

It came as no surprise that Matt was voted by the public to do the gruesome underwater challenge on Thursday night.

I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! continues on Thursday at 9pm on ITV.
