Hoda Kotb weighs in on the ‘Today’ show baby boom

Amid a baby boom at the “Today” show, Hoda Kotb — who’s out on maternity leave — says in a new interview that the program will survive without her and pregnant co-host Jenna Bush Hager for a while.

Bush Hager is expecting her third child, a boy, this summer; it’s unknown how long Kotb will be out with daughter Hope Catherine, but she took four months of maternity leave after adopting older daughter Haley Joy.

“You know how long it took me to understand that concept? ‘Wow, life goes on!’” Kotb told People. “I love the show, but everything goes on, and goes on beautifully. I’m happy to be in this moment, and I’ll be happy to go back.”

In mid-April, Kotb made a surprise announcement that she’d adopted a second child. Then, a week later, Bush Hager — who had just taken over Kathie Lee Gifford’s fourth-hour spot alongside Kotb — revealed that she is pregnant.

“‘Well, it is the first week and uh-oh, and see you later.’ But here’s the thing: There are no accidents,” Kotb said. “Hope was meant to come right now. Jenna’s baby is meant to come exactly when it’s coming.”

Earlier this week, Page Six exclusively reported that the “Today” show will have to use a revolving door of guest hosts through the end of the year — and scrap its plans to revamp the fourth hour, likely until 2020.
