Dave Myers: Hairy Bikers star gives update on his cancer treatment
Hairy Bikers’ Si King has opened up about how “difficult” it was to deal with Dave Myers’ cancer diagnosis.
In May 2022, Dave, 65, announced he had been diagnosed with cancer and would be undergoing chemotherapy.
Giving an update to The Times, Si, 56, discussed the “distressing” moment he found out his TV partner was ill.
The chef said: “I was driving. I had to pull over. It’s so distressing. It’s very difficult to verbalise.
“There’s a sense of loss, but there’s also that sense of hope, you know, knowing my mate as I do.”

In the interview, the Kibblesworth-born personality called Dave a “scrapper” and a “fighter”.
However, the 56-year-old also revealed that there were low points where he had questioned: “Where’s it going to go? What is happening to my friend?’”
Si told the publication he had been by the 65-year-old’s side throughout the treatment. However, he said chemotherapy had made him “very, very, very unwell.”
He stated: “And it’s funny, you know, when you see somebody you love so much in so much distress, it’s very hard to know what to do.

“My character and personality is naturally, I just want to fix it. I get very distressed when I can’t.”
While it has yet to be specified what type of cancer Dave has, he has said that he is “doing all right”.
The stepdad-of-two stated: “I’m doing all right. It’s a work in progress.
“We’ve had some hard years but this one’s been… I’ve had 30 lots of chemo, spread over three weeks and then a week off. It’s going the right way.”

The Hairy Bikers are set to make their grand return soon in an eight-part series titled The Hairy Bikers Go West.
The BBC Two series will see the northern chefs travelling down the West Coast of Britain, where they will celebrate cuisine, sample various restaurants and meet with award-winning chefs.
The first episode of the show will be set on The Isle of Brute, before stopping off in Scotland and Merseyside. The journey is expected to conclude in Devon.
Speaking to The Mirror, Dave said that it is “unbelievable to be back” in the saddle with Si and that “every breath I take now is just refreshing and fabulous.”
