Appearing on Good Morning America on Monday, Demi made the heartbreaking revelation she had been raped as a child during an interview with Diane Sawyer.

When she was a teenager, after years of moving around the country, her mother Virginia King began taking her to bars so that they together would get attention from men.

Moore recalled how after one outing, she returned home to find an older man who had a key to their home. She said he raped her then afterwards asked: ‘How does it feel to be wh***d out for $500?’

‘It was rape and a devastating betrayal,’ she wrote in the book.

Asked by Sawyer if she thought she was pimped out by her mother, she said: ‘I think in my deep heart, no. I don’t think it was a straight forward transaction but she still did give him the access and put me in harm’s way.’

Moore was born in New Mexico but her biological father left her mother before she was born.

She was raised by her mother and her mother’s second husband, Dan Guynes, who she thought was her real father until she was 13 and discovered her birth certificate.

Guynes was a newspaper advertising salesman and the small family moved around the country frequently.

No holds barred: The story also discusses her marriages and divorces to Bruce and Ashton Kutcher, her battle with drug and alcohol addiction and and raising the three daughters she shares with Bruce

Both he and her mother were alcoholics and her mother attempted suicide many times.

By her teenage years, her mother and Guynes were no longer together and she and her mom had moved to Hollywood, where the rape happened.

She moved out shortly afterwards, aged 16, and launched her acting career.

Also supporting Moore was her and Bruce’s daughters Rumer, 31, Scout, 28, and Tallulah, 25 along with Willis’ second wife Emma Heming.

It’s a far cry from 2012 when, as Moore is reported to describe in her book, Willis and her daughters shunned her after she was hospitalized for life-threatening seizures from doing drugs at a party.

The situation led her to enter rehab and get sober.

‘I guess the fundamental question was how did I get here from where I started to what I’d experienced, how did i get here – I lost me.

‘If I were to look back I would say I blinded myself and I lost myself,’ she said of the incident.

She was not drinking but was partying with her daughter, Rumer, she said.

In the book, she says she took ‘a hit of nitrous oxide’ then smoked synthetic pot called Diablo.

She also alleged that she broke her 20-year sobriety when her ex-husband Ashton Kutcher told her he did not believe in alcoholism and says he pressured her into threesomes.

Journey: Asked why she decided to lay bare her life story in a book, she said: ‘I centered (it) on a fundamental question, which is, ‘Coming from where I’ve come from, how did I get here?’

She said she agreed to do them because she wanted to seem ‘fun’ to her much-younger husband but that they were a ‘mistake’.

Willis was her second husband; her first was rock musician Freddy Moore whom she wed when she was 18 and whose name she kept following their divorce.

In 2005, she tied the knot for the third time with Ashton Kutcher, 15 years her junior.

Moore is pictured with her mother and her stepfather, Dan Guynes, as a child. She thought Guynes was her biological father until she was 13 when she read her birth certificate. Guynes killed himself in 1980, two years after splitting from Moore’s mother

Moore described her childhood as ‘colorful’. Her small family moved around frequently because of her stepfather’s job

Before their marriage, she described how she became pregnant with Kutcher’s baby – a baby girl they planned to call Chaplin Ray – but miscarried at six months.

She is also brutally honest about how the That 70s Show star cheated on her during their marriage and persuaded her to take part in threesomes.

As to why Moore decided to lay bare her life story in a book, she told People last week: ‘I centered (it) on a fundamental question, which is, ‘How did I get here? Coming from where I’ve come from, how did I get here?’
