Gwyneth Paltrow raised eyebrows for her unique choice of baby name in 2004 when she introduced her daughter Apple to the world.
And while it went down as one of the most quirky names in Hollywood at the time, the actress’ choice seems rather ordinary compared to Elon Musk and Grimes’ choice of baby name, which was unveiled this week.
Gwyneth couldn’t help but have a giggle about it as she posted a comment on the Elon baby news: ‘#chrismartin I think we got beat for most controversial baby name’

The comment was unveiled by Comments by celebs after the Goop founder replied to a post by InStyle magazine on Instagram.
Gwyneth, 47, shares Apple, 15, and son Moses, 14, with ex-husband Chris Martin, 43.
After welcoming his first child with the singer – real name Claire Elise Boucher – earlier this week, Elon revealed the baby boy’s highly unusual name; X Æ A-12.
Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast after his birth, the billionaire attempted to explain how to pronounce his son’s name.

‘It’s just the letter X and then the Æ is pronounced ‘Ash’. A-12 is my contribution…. Coolest plane ever. It’s pretty great.’
Elon explained that Grimes ‘mostly came up with the name,’ adding: ‘Yeah, she’s great at names.’
X Æ A-12 is Grimes’ first child, while Elon has five children with his former wife Justine Wilson. The former couple also had son Nevada together but he died of sudden infant death syndrome at 10 weeks in 2002.

Elon, 48, revealed that he ‘appreciates’ being an older dad and is besotted with little X Æ A-12. He said: ‘Actually I think it’s better being older and having a kid. I appreciate it more. Babies are awesome. They’re little lovebugs. Wonderful, it’s great.’
Gwyneth opened up about her first child’s name in an interview with Oprah in 2004, revealing it was the Coldplay musician who came up with Apple.
‘When we were first pregnant, her daddy said, “If it’s a girl I think her name should be Apple,”
‘It sounded so sweet, and it conjured such a lovely picture for me, you know. Apples are so sweet and they’re wholesome, and it’s biblical.’ she explained.
