Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s wedding was ‘elegant but down home’ says officiant Carson Daly as he shares new images from the Oklahoma nuptials

Carson Daly has shared his thoughts on Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s  Oklahoma wedding that took place this weekend.

The TV host who served as officiant for the pop singer and the country crooner said during the Today show on Tuesday that the nuptials were a nice blend.

‘The best way to describe it is it was perfectly them — the whole weekend and the marriage itself,’ the star said. ‘It was as elegant and refined and cool as Gwen is, and it was as country and down-home and fun as Blake is.’

Happy at last: Carson Daly has shared his thoughts on Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s Oklahoma wedding this weekend as he shared new images to Instagram

She said thanks! Soon after Gwen responded with: ‘Thank u @carsondaly we love u!! @blakeshelton gx’

Daly – who has worked with the couple on The Voice – added it was a ‘perfect blend of country and glamour.’

And for those who don’t understand how a punky pop star like Gwen and a country cat like Blake can be into each other, Carson said it was like ‘delicious fried chicken with a glass of champagne.’

The Hollywood veteran then said: ‘On paper and on the menu it doesn’t seem to work, but it works,’ he said. ‘It’s comfort food with class. And everybody roots for that.’

He also shared that he urged Gwen, 51, and Blake, 45, to pen their own vows.

‘I went to them months ago and said, “I think you guys should write your own vows. We shouldn’t just do the repeat after me,”‘ Carson shared. ‘They were really reluctant to do that, but … it’s two of the best songwriters in the world, we want to hear your words.

Another look: Gwen also added this image where the newlyweds held up their arms

‘At the wedding, Gwen starts, and she wrote this, “Since I was a little girl …” And she crushes, not a dry eye in the church. … It was so perfect,’ Daly said.

‘I said to Blake when she was done, “Top that, buddy.” And Blake starts by saying, “Gwen’s always giving me a hard time about not writing enough songs, so I wrote a song.”

Then he pulled out a guitar. ‘Guitar comes in frame, stool, next thing you know, he wrote her a song, he sings her a song while he’s crying that he wrote specifically for her. … Not a dry eye in the house.’

The song is titled Reach The Star and it is not known if it will ever be released. ‘Hopefully he’ll record it. It’ll put everybody in the wedding at that moment if he records that song,’ said Daly.

So sweet: The TV host who served as officiant for the pop singer and the country crooner said during the Today show on Tuesday that the nuptials were perfect. Here Carson is with the bride and groom as well as his wife and four kids

Carson added on the Today show that he felt it was ‘incredible to be part of such an important moment in their lives.’

Daly also shared that there were about 40 guests at the wedding of the year.

Some of those at the nuptials were Stefani’s three sons — Kingston, 15, Zuma, 12, and 7-year-old Apollo — and her parents, Dennis Stefani and Patty Flynn.

And the former TRL star took to Instagram to share four images from the wedding, one showing Gwen kicking a leg up.

In Carson’s post there was also a portrait of his family. Carson is wed to Siri Pinter, 40, and together they have four children: Jackson, London, Goldie and Etta.

Blake, who was previously married to fellow country music star Miranda Lambert, and Gwen, who has three sons with Rossdale, announced their engagement in October 2020.

Not present at their wedding, however, was former The Voice coach Adam Levine.

The Maroon 5 rocker, who quit the NBC reality show in 2019, is reported to be in Miami with his family.

Meanwhile, Gwen, 51, gave fans a look at her stunning wedding to Blake on Instagram Monday as she confirmed the two had tied the knot.

She looked every inch the blushing bride as she and the country favorite kissed in front of a beautiful cake in one photo.

Another shot showed Blake driving his love off as she flashed her legs under her classic Vera Wang dress.

‘Dreams do come [heart and praying hands emojis],’ she captioned the gorgeous photos, while adding an ‘I love you’ for her new husband Blake.

The country singer embraced the pop star from behind and kissed her forehead in a lovely taken at dusk in front of wisps of pink-flecked clouds.

The two stood next to a covered stone pavilion, which may have been where they tied the knot, and they were at the edge of a cliff above the tree tops.

Right before, she shared a sweet video, where she played around with her white floral veil while getting ready for her big day.

Still wearing her silky robe but with a face full of makeup, Gwen couldn’t have looked any happier as she prepared to say ‘I do’ to the country sensation.

‘July 3rd 2021,’ she captioned the video, indicating the date she had tied the knot with Blake.

MIA: Absent from the nuptials, however, was fellow coach Adam Levine who left The Voice in 2019; he’s reported to be in Miami with his family (pictured in 2017)

The No Doubt singer was dressed in a lustrous white stain robe with pink floral designs on the sleeves.

Later on Monday, Gwen posted a gorgeous black-and-white shot to her Instagram Stories of her and Blake embracing for a photo with guests dining under elegant candelabras.

Jeremy Bustos, who photographed the wedding for the happy couple, called the job ‘the greatest honor’ in an Insta Stories post on his account.

‘I had the greatest honor of spend the weekend with the sweetest, most down-to-Earth, and straight up best-est couple, ever,’ he wrote.

‘G + B, thank you for not only trusting me to capture your most important day…but for your genuine hospitality and kindness.’

Specially built: The ceremony was held at Blake’s Oklahoma ranch in an outdoor chapel that he built himself with ‘input’ from Gwen. The couple only had about 40 close friends and family attending

Although Gwen shared the stunning images from her wedding, Blake kept quiet on his own social media accounts.

In her caption tags, Gwen revealed that her stunning white off-the-shoulder gown had been designed by Vera Wang, while her trusty stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn had helped her achieve her pristine look.

On Thursday, TMZ reported that the couple had obtained their marriage license, meaning they had only 10 days to get married before it expired.

Blake, Gwen and her children had departed Los Angeles on Friday, June 25, just after the country hitmaker had finished up work on The Voice.

The wedding’s success can be largely attributed to Gwen’s planning.

In May, Blake joked to USA Today that it would be a ‘pretty classless wedding’ if he planned it, which was why Gwen was taking charge.

‘I want her to do all of that stuff and handle it because it’s going to be great. She’s in the middle of planning the thing, and she’s always so mindful … of me,’ he continued. ‘She’s like, “Hey, I don’t want to just take this thing over.” I think she’s having a blast doing it. I mean, I know she’s having a blast doing it.’

Blake and Gwen’s romance goes back to 2015, when they struck up a relationship while working together on The Voice.

At the time, both singers were coming off heartbreaks.

In July of that year, Blake and his then-wife Miranda Lambert announced that they were divorcing after four years of marriage and almost a decade together.

Gwen had her own marital split when she announced her divorce from Bush lead singer Gavin Rossdale in August 2015 after two decades together and nearly 13 years of marriage.

She shares three boys with her ex-husband: 15-year-old Kingston, 12-year-old Zuma and seven-year-old Apollo.

All him: He built an outdoor chapel for the wedding with input from his soon-to-be wife. ‘Blake built a chapel on the grounds of his Oklahoma ranch. He did it himself with help,’ a source told Us Weekly in December 2020. ‘It’s really a tribute to their love’

In February, Blake opened up about how much it meant for him to become a stepfather to the three boys during a radio interview for KFROG’s The Ride With Kimo & Heather.

‘I don’t know if it’s as hard or harder or not as hard as being an actual, biological parent, you know?’ he mused. ‘I have a stepfather in my life who’s one of my heroes. I love my stepfather and I look up to him and he’s like a father to me, so I have a good inspiration in my life for how to do this and the kind of stepdad I want to be. And I take it very serious.

‘But I also have a blast with it, I’m not gonna lie,’ he continued. ‘I don’t take it so serious that I’m not enjoying this time because I really am, especially now that we’re five years into this thing.’

Blake added, ‘I can’t imagine my life without these kids now.’

The country singer and Gwen went public with their relationship in late 2015.

Back then, a source told People that Blake ‘wanted to take his time with marriage,’ though he was ‘absolutely committed to Gwen.’

He decided he was ready to move forward on October 27, 2020, when the two announced their engagement.

The Hollaback Girl singer appeared to shade her ex-husband with a Father’s Day post last week that focused only on Blake without a mention of Gavin.

The Voice coach and country superstar was seen bonding with her boys in several sweet photos, while their biological father was conspicuously absent.

‘Happy father’s day to the most generous patient loving funny guy i know — we love u so much,’ she wrote while tagging Blake.
