‘Gravely Ill’ Aretha Franklin Receives Support From Celebrities On Twitter — As Friends ‘Prepare To Say Goodbye’

The “Respect” crooner has been battling cancer since 2010.

Celebrities — such as Missy Elliot, Mariah Carey, and Ciara — are sending their love to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin.

Tweets started pouring in after reports emerged on Sunday that the singer, who has won 18 Grammy awards, is "gravely ill" and is currently being surrounded by her friends and family in Detroit. The "Respect" crooner has been battling cancer since 2010.

Franklin’s friend, journalist Roland Martin, confirmed Franklin’s health status on his Twitter account.

"Many of you are asking me to confirm the health status of @ArethaFranklin," he wrote. "Folks, I’ve known for several months. The Queen is surrounded by loved ones. That’s all I will say for now. Please keep her, the family and her longtime support staff in your prayers."

Pop star Ciara wrote on her Twitter that she was "praying for Aretha Franklin and her family right now!"

Similarly, fellow pop diva Carey posted a tweet that she was "praying for the queen of soul."

Elliot also wrote a tweet sending love for "Ain’t No Way" singer. The hip hop star retweeted a old message she wrote from last January, in which she spoke about how "living legends" like Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, and Franklin "need to be celebrated."
