Giddy stars leave the GQ Awards

GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2021: Bleary-eyed Emily Atack joins BAREFOOT Ellie Goulding, giddy Maya Jama and a VERY high-spirited Idris Elba as they lead the raucous afterparty departures

  • The 24th GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2021 in association with BOSS saw a slew of stars scooping top prizes on Wednesday night as the ceremony saw the return of in-person attendees following the Covid pandemic 
  • The star-studded ceremony was hosted by actor Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina, with presenters including Winnie Harlow, Gary Lineker, Emma Corrin and Mabel announcing the winners of the coveted awards 
  • As well as receiving one of GQ’s coveted trophies, winners were treated to a £12,000 goodie bag, with treats such as dinner and a night’s stay in the swanky Nobu Hote 

Emily Atack, Ellie Goulding, Maya Jama and Idris Elba lead the very giddy stars departing the 2021 GQ Men Of The Year Awards at the Tate Modern on Wednesday. 

The group had spent the evening celebrating as a slew of stars scooped top prizes at the ceremony – which saw the return of in-person attendees following the Covid pandemic.

Clearly delighted to be back at a glittering event, Emily,  31, seemed in high spirits as she teetered out of the event in her towering stilettos before jumping into the back of a black taxi.

For the event, the actress and comedian, 31, cut a glamorous figure in a simple yet elegant black gown, which featured a strip of silver down the split of the thigh-high slit.

Emily, who has recently split from her ex beau Jude Taylor, added height to her frame with silver studded heels. 

Following on was the likes of Ellie Goulding and her husband Caspar Jopling who looked all partied out after the event.  

The British singer, 34, kicked off her heels as she left the event barefoot, with her tight towering stilettos having made their mark on the star.

Despite her lack of footwear, Ellie still cut a stunning figure as she donned a plunging lilac gown, which featured different length sleeves and a mid length skirt, teamed with a pair of strappy green heels.

Ellie wore her blonde locks in soft waves and sported a glamorous coat of make-up in rosy hues, while she styled her outfit with a selection of delicate chain necklaces.

Maya, 27, had opted to change into a second look to leave the event, showcasing her phenomenal figure in a black mini dress with a lace panel across the chest and feathered detailing on the shoulders.

Mum and dad’s night out! The couple welcomed a baby boy named Arthur Ever Winter Jopling in April and were no doubt ready to head home and see him after their night out 


Dressed to impress: Maya, 27, had opted to change into a second look to leave the event, showcasing her phenomenal figure in a black mini dress with a lace panel across the chest and feathered detailing on the shoulders


Changing things up: Maya’s short black dress was a change from her red carpet look, in which she had opted for a glamorous black dress with a daring neckline which left plenty of skin on show

Two outfits are better than one! Maya showed off her second ensemble on Instagram, joking about making a ‘quick change’ 


Fun time with friends: The star took to social media to pose with her pals while partying at the glamorous awards 

It was a change from her red carpet look, in which she had opted for a glamorous black dress with a daring neckline which left plenty of skin on show.

The television presenter gave a glimpse at her slender pins through the sheer material of the garment which was bedazzled with shimmering beads.

Meanwhile, Noel Gallagher’s daughter, Anais, 21, couldn’t keep the smile off her face as she bounded outside with her pal Edward Bluemel. 

The model opted for a low-key look for the event, pairing a taupe satin pyjama suit with black boots while she toted a navy satin handbag.  

While Idris and Sabrina had hosted, they were joined on the stage by presenters including Winnie Harlow, Gary Lineker, Emma Corrin and Mabel announcing the winners of the coveted awards.

Starting a trend! Ellie Goulding wasn’t the only celebrity to have gone barefoot, with Emma Corrin seen sitting in the back of the car without her shoes on 


Making strides: Emma had kicked off her shoes earlier in the night and bounded out of the event alongside a pal 



Fun times: Following on was the likes of Noel Gallagher’s daughter, Anais, 21, who couldn’t keep the smile off her face as she bounded outside with her pal

Belle of the ball: Winnie Harlow looked sensational in an orange puffball mini dress with a gold bodice that she teamed with bejewelled stiletto heels 

As well as receiving one of GQ’s coveted trophies, winners were treated to a £12,000 goodie bag, with treats such as dinner and a night’s stay in the swanky Nobu Hotel, a £200 Boss watch, a bottle of £80 Porte Noire Champagne and a flight on a semi-private plane.

Other prizes also include membership to the prestigious Ivy Club, a luxury facial with Fatma Shaheen, founder of Skin Design London, and an array of skincare delights. 

On the night, Bridgerton actor Rege-Jean Page and Line Of Duty star Adrian Dunbar led the winners.


Gorgeous pair:  Alexa Chung looked sensational in a purple sequinned dress with a blue corset top as she cosied up to boyfriend Orson Fry while leaving the event 

Tangerine queens: Pixie Lott and Roxie Horner looked sensational in their gold and orange ensembles as they left the venue


Heading home: Pixie later clambered into a taxi alongside her fiancé Oliver Cheshire, with the pair seeming in good spirits

Girls’ night out! Jourdan Dunn and Neelam Gill seemed in high spirits as they exited the awards show arm in arm 

Realest of time: Neelam took to social media to share pictures partying backstage with Jourdan 

The breakthrough star, 31, looked dapper in a three-piece green suit as he received his gong, after receiving acclaim from viewers and critics for his role as the Duke Of Hastings in the alternative period drama.

Meanwhile, Ted Hastings actor Adrian, 63, was awarded the TV Performance Of The Year, after capturing the nation during the sixth series of the BBC police drama earlier this year.

Speaking after his win, Rege-Jean said he loved being able to portray a person of high status as a Black man.


Legs eleven! Lottie Moss looked phenomenal as she strutted out of the venue in a plunging black blazer dress that she layered over a harness style bra, meanwhile Laura Whitmore wore a black jumpsuit

Feeling peckish? Anne-Marie left the venue alongside a pal and a selection of crisps that were piled on the back seat

Glamorous: Roxy Horner looked sensational as she left the venue in a leopard print mini dress teamed with towering silver heels – but suffered a wardrobe malfunction as one strap on her shoe came off

Speaking to GQ magazine about his role in the drama, he said: ‘I think it becomes very obvious who was excluded from the game previously. It just became vaguely ludicrous that it was such an issue before. You know, ‘How will this work?’ Um, we’ll do the acting!’

And of his scenes on horseback, he added: ‘Being on a horse is literally lifting people into a position of aspiration, power, possibility and agency that they’ve not been afforded before. That’s what’s ridiculous.

That we are not crea­tive enough in the creative industries – that’s the failure. But the second you start doing that? It’s like, ‘This is so easy!’ Yes, it is, so keep doing that.’


Loving life: Raye looked phenomenal in a scarlet fishtail gown with a plunging neckline as she headed out alongside Rafferty Law, who looked dapper in a black suit paired with a cosy knitted cardigan 

Follow the leader: Raye playfully ran up behind Rafferty and tapped him on the shoulder as they made a giddy departure 


Larking around: The pair were all smiles as they chased each other around outside, with Raye cheekily grabbing onto Rafferty’s crochet cardigan

Rege-Jean will not be returning to ‘Bridgerton’ for season two, but has denied rumours he was booted from the production.

He insisted: ‘No, I respectfully exited. I didn’t want to put them in an awkward situation where they had to kick me out.’

Meanwhile, as he thanked his co-stars and friends Martin Compston [Steve Arnott] and Vicky McClure [Kate Flemming] during his speech, Adrian also gave a special mention to his 89-year-old mother.

Adrian revealed he wanted to dedicate the award to his mum Pauline, following her recovery from coronavirus last week after she contracted the potentially deadly virus.

Elsewhere, Ed Sheeran was named Solo Artist of the Year, while Sir Anthony Hopkins took home the Legend award and Sacha Baron Cohen won the Icon gong.

There were also awards for the team behind the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, as well as all the Olympic and Paralympic athletes of Great Britain.
