Gemma Atkinson shuts down claim she’s ‘feuding’ with Gorka’s partner Nikita

Former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson has responded to claims that she is reportedly “feuding” with her fiance’s dance partner Nikita Kanda.

The 38-year-old, who first met Gorka Marquez during the 2017 series of the dance programme, appeared to be in full support as they both appeared on Strictly’s It Takes Two this evening.

It comes after reports showed that Gemma had not followed Nikita back on Instagram, whereas Nikita follows and likes all of Gemma’s posts on social media.

A Strictly fan told The Sun: “It’s so weird that Gemma isn’t following Nikita – especially as Nikita likes all of Gemma’s posts.”

The actress posted a snapshot of Gorka and Nikita on the television screen, captioning it with: “Team Gorkita” along with a hands up emoji.

Radio host Nikita was revealed as the ninth celebrity to join the 2023 line-up of Strictly Come Dancing.

She is a presenter on BBC Asian Network as their Breakfast host.

Nikita has interviewed high-profile celebrities such as Nadia Hussain and Akon, and even eaten crickets live on-air.

Gemma and Gorka first met in 2017 on Strictly Come Dancing, however they were not originally paired together.

At the time, Gemma was paired up with pro-dancer Aljaž Škorjanec and Gorka was partnered with X-Factor singer Alexandra Burke.

Romance later blossomed and they confirmed their relationship following the Strictly Live Tour in 2018.

Gorka proposed to Gemma on Valentine’s Day in 2021 and the pair welcomed their first child, Mia, in May 2019.

The couple also revealed earlier this year that they were expecting their second child.

In her announcement post, Gemma shared the exciting news with the caption: “Impossible to hide my belly any longer. I’ve officially ‘popped.’ Our baby boy will be joining our family later this year.”

On the 22 July she gave birth to a son called Thiago Thomas Marquez.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.15pm on BBC One.
