It’s been over a month since controversial beauty vlogger James Charles said he was taking a break after posting in his “No More Lies” video, which was uploaded after a bunch of drama involving fellow vlogger Tati Westbrook. But he’s back, you guys! And he’s one month older! And he has a lot to say about makeup, his blossoming music career, and that Tati feud.
If James and Tati’s beef didn’t consume every waking thought of yours for at least two weeks, let’s quickly get you up to speed on how it all started. In April, James posted a video about SugarBearHair, which is a competitor of Tati’s Halo Beauty line. Since James and Tati are friends, she felt just like Ja Rule post Fyre Fest: hustled, scammed, bamboozled, hood winked, lead astray!!! Plus, Tati also had a problem with how James allegedly “pursued straight men,” which she addressed in a since-deleted video called “Bye Sister.”
At one point in their feud, James posted an apology video but later followed it up with another called “No More Lies,” which addressed how people were calling him a “predator” and “a danger to society.” In that last video, he said he was going on a little hiatus, and it looks like it’s finally over because he just uploaded a new video called “Hi Sisters.” Clever guy!
In the new video, James talked about how all the money he makes from the video and some of the revenue he makes from an upcoming Sisters Apparel project will be donated to The Trevor Project, which provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention to young people in the LGBTQ community. He also mentioned how he just got a spray tan, he showed off an eyebrow makeup trick he recently learned, he teased upcoming music projects, and, of course, he spoke about his absence.
He said, “I’ve been posting little stories here and there to kind of keep you guys posted, but it is so weird of me to literally not be, like, posting everything I’m doing at all times of the day.” He also said he is “so ready to come back and work so hard” and that he did some “growing and thinking” while he was away.
Sadly, James didn’t directly address the Tati drama, but never say never! Unless you’re Tati, who said she’s done talking about this publicly.
