Late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was once SLAPPED across the face by Prince Harry: ‘It p**sed me off actually’

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died on Friday at the age of 50, once had a bizarre encounter with Prince Harry when they met backstage in 2015.

Speaking on The Howard Stern Show in February last year, Hawkins said the 37-year-old royal had slapped him across the face after he complained he was feeling tired before a concert.

The late musician said the slap had been playful but still ‘p**sed me off, actually’.

‘He walked in and goes, “How are you doing?” I said, “I can’t wake up. I’m so tired. I gotta play, I can’t wake up,”‘ he recounted. 

‘He just goes bam and I went, “You motherf**ker!” He was like, “Are you awake now?” or something like that. I was like, “Yeah.”‘ 

Hawkins added: ‘I got slapped in the face by the prince. That’s okay really, if you think about it. But in the moment, I was like, “You f**king slapped me, dude.”‘

The popular drummer was found dead in his hotel room in Bogota, Colombia, on Friday, March 25. He was 50 years old.

According to a report by Colombian publication Semana, an autopsy revealed his heart weighed more than 600 grams.

Most men of the same age have a heart that weighs between 280 and 340 grams.

A toxicology report also found 10 drugs in his system, including antidepressants, benzodiazepines, THC, opioids and heroin.

Authorities responded to the hotel after receiving a call about a guest suffering from ‘chest pains’. 

An ambulance was called; however, paramedics were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead.

The band later released a statement on Saturday confirming Hawkins’ shock death.  

‘The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever,’ they wrote.

‘Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.’
