Fern Britton and husband Phil Vickery split after ’20 happy years together’

Fern Britton has announced that she and her husband, This Morning chef Phil Vickery, have split after more than 20 years together.

Ferne, 62, tweeted the end of her marriage to Phil in a statement on Twitter.

She wrote: “After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways.

“We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children .

"We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time. Thankyou for your continued kindness and support.”

Fans sent messages of support to the star, as one person wrote on Twitter: “Oh Fern that's so sad! Sending you lots of love and happiness to you and the family.”

Another said: “I’m sorry to hear that Fern. Hope you’ll be ok. You’ve had a tough few months so I hope the coming ones aren’t so tough.”

And a third person wrote: “So sorry about this, hope you’re all ok and you’re given the privacy you’ve requested.”

Ferne and Phil married in 2000 and share daughter Winnie, 17, together.

Ferne is also mum to twins Harry and Jack and daughter Grace, with her ex Clive Jones.

Ferne and Phil met on This Morning, where he is chef and the show which Ferne used to host alongside Phillip Schofield, who now presents with Holly Willoughby.

Previously speaking about how their romance began, Fern told the Telegraph: "The boys were four; Grace hadn't even started toddling.

"I remember thinking at the time that nobody was going to take a 40-something woman with three kids.

"Then, one day at work, someone said, 'Phil Vickery fancies you.' And I went, 'Remind me – which one is he?'

"Eventually, I kidnapped him, put him and his dirty washing – he was single at the time – in my car and drove him home. The next day, he baked me his irresistible gooseberry crumble."

She added: "He is my life's great love, a really amazing husband, partner, friend."
