EXCLUSIVE: Natalie Portman 'hates how husband's affair made her feel'

EXCLUSIVE: Natalie Portman ‘hates how powerless husband Benjamin Millepied’s infidelity has made her feel’ – but STILL ‘doesn’t know’ if she wants to walk away from marriage because the pair ‘are really in love deep down’

  • The 42-year-old actress has not yet decided if she will leave Millepied, 46, who reportedly had an affair with a 25-year-old climate activist
  • A source close to the actress told DailyMail.com she is devastated by the affair but the couple is ‘taking it day by day’ and haven’t yet decided if they will split
  • The insider added that Portman ‘wants to stay with’ Millepied but isn’t sure if she can ‘regain her power’ in the relationship in light of his infidelity

Natalie Portman has yet to make a definitive decision about the future of her marriage to Benjamin Millepied after reports surfaced that he’d had an affair with a younger woman – despite being left devastated by the rumors of his infidelity.

In June, the couple’s marriage was rocked by a report in a French magazine that Millepied, 46, had cheated on his wife of 11 years with a 25-year-old climate activist named Camille Etienne.

Last week, Portman was then seen without her wedding ring during an outing in Australia – sparking further speculation that the duo’s marriage has come to an end.

However, a source close to Portman, 42, has now shared some insight into the status of their relationship – shutting down rumors that they have ‘separated’ and insisting that the actress still ‘doesn’t know’ if she will walk away from her marriage, despite feeling ‘powerless’ as a result of the infidelity.

‘[Natalie] hates that [Benjamin’s] infidelity has made her feel powerless,’ the insider told DailyMail.com. ‘She doesn’t know if she can regain her power by staying with him or leaving him.

‘It is really a struggle to have to continue to deal with it.’

But, the source insisted that ‘deep down’, Portman and Millepied are still ‘really in love’ and are trying to work out what went wrong in their marriage.

‘They are really taking it day by day because deep down they are really in love, and they are trying to figure out what has caused the distance between them,’ the source continued. ‘She wants to stay with him, and he really wants to be with her.

‘They both know that breaking up and staying together forever are still on the table and only time will tell what direction they will actually take.’

Representatives for Portman did not respond to requests for comment.

The latest insight into the marriage comes as speculation continues to swirl in the aftermath of the original exposé.

People has reported that an insider claimed the alleged affair with Étienne was ‘short-lived’ and is now ‘over.’

Portman was initially seen wearing her wedding ring shortly after the infidelity news broke but has been seen without it in more recent outings.

According to Page Six, the actress learned of her husband’s cheating in early March, and that the couple had separated last year but were able to work through their relationship problems.

After this alleged transgression, they had been taking steps to do what they could to save the marriage.

More recently, according to Page Six, the problems with Portman and Millepied’s marriage spilled over into the filming of her upcoming film May December (pictured)

A source previously confirmed to DailyMail.com that the couple were still together after the affair claims emerged.

‘He knows he made an enormous mistake and he is doing all he can to get Natalie to forgive him and keep their family together,’ a source revealed to People.

‘Natalie is incredibly private and has no intention of playing this out in the media. Her biggest priority is protecting her children and their privacy.’

Portman, a native of Jerusalem, Israel, and Millepied, who is from Bordeaux, France, share two children together: son Aleph,12, and daughter Amalia, six.

They met back in 2009 on the set of her psychological horror film Black Swan, for which he did the choreography, that resulted in her winning the Best Actress Oscar for her riveting performance.

The lovebirds got engaged in 2010 and were married in 2012 at Big Sur, California.

Millepied again worked on choreography for Portman’s dark musical drama film Vox Lux in 2018, in which she played a woman who survives a school shooting, only to become a pop star.

More recently, according to Page Six, the problems with Portman and Millepied’s marriage spilled over into the filming of her upcoming film May December, which is directed by the acclaimed auteur Todd Haynes.

The film stars Julianne Moore and Riverdale’s Charles Melton as a married couple who were engulfed in scandal years earlier when her relationship to the much-younger man was discovered.

Portman plays an actress who comes to visit them in preparation to play Moore’s character in a movie about the controversy, but her dredging up their history threatens to destroy their marriage.

It was reportedly an ‘open secret’ during the 23-day shoot in November 2022 that Portman and her husband were having marital issues.
