EXC: Yewande Biala claims she was nearly KIDNAPPED by her Tinder date

EXCLUSIVE: ‘This is how people die!’ Love Island’s Yewande Biala claims she was nearly KIDNAPPED by her Tinder date

Yewande Biala has claimed she was nearly kidnapped by her Tinder date.

In a new interview, the former Love Island star opened up about the terrifying experience, which took place ‘in the middle of nowhere’ following their first ever meet-up over drinks in a bar, and admitted she thought: ‘This is how people die!’

Yewande grew increasingly concerned when the man started ‘scratching her leg with his nails,’ while driving her home, and asking ‘what colour underwear’ she had on, after checking with his fingers to see if she was wearing any knickers.

OMG! In a new interview, Love Island star Yewande Biala has claimed she was nearly KIDNAPPED by her Tinder date

Speaking on PrettyLittleThing’s podcast Behind Closed Doors, Yewande explained she joined the dating app following encouragement from her friends.

She said: ‘So I was like you know what I need to try. So obviously I tried it like many people and like many people I had a horrible experience, I nearly got kidnapped Oh my god!’

The scientist had arranged to go on a date through Tinder, with a man whose identity she didn’t reveal – referring to him only as ‘Bob.’

Yewande said: ‘So obviously met this guy who won’t be mentioned so his name will not be mentioned right. Were gonna call him Bob right, met Bob in tinder then decided to go on a date.

Scary! Speaking on PrettyLittleThing’s podcast Behind Closed Doors, the scientist opened up about the terrifying experience, which took place ‘in the middle of nowhere’

Putting safety first, the reality star explained that her mother dropped her off, and although the man didn’t look like his Tinder profile, he wasn’t ‘too bad.’

She said: ‘I got my mam to drop me somewhere close-ish enough from the house. Picked me up right, looked at him and I thought: “Not too bad! You don’t look like your tinder picture but you’re not too far away.” Grand.

‘We were in the car we got to the bar, got some drinks it was going grand. I said to him I said to him: “Listen, I thought you were gonna be a psychopath but turns out you’re actually a decent person.” We laughed.

‘Then we were heading back to his car right and with me, obviously most people know, I’m not really the most affectionate type of person. When I say I don’t really like affection I’m being deadly serious. It does take me a while and I’m not messing.

‘So he kinda so he had his hand around my hip/waist, I was a little bit uncomfortable because unless I get to know you, I’m hesitant when it comes to touching.

Not okay! Yewande grew concerned when the man started ‘scratching her leg with his nails,’ while driving her home, and asking ‘what colour underwear’ she had on

‘But then I soon realised that he wasn’t just grabbing me by the waist he was checking if I was wearing knickers! I could literally feel his fingers going up and down multiple times, so I was thinking: “What are you trying to do?”‘

Yewande explained how she saw this as ‘sign number one,’ but considered that perhaps she just wasn’t used to physical affection, and proceeded to get into his car.

She said: ‘So ,me being me, I was like “Right maybe this is normal for people who like affection, maybe this is what people do?” So I’m just gonna go with it and this is gonna be fine.

‘I got into the car with my seatbelt on. He was driving me home. Now bare in mind I live in Meath and people who live in Meath near Enfield – it is the middle of nowhere! There are cows and sheep left, right and centre. I live in the middle of nowhere.

Horrific! As they left the bar, Yewande detailed how her date began ‘checking with his fingers to see if she was wearing any knickers’

‘He’s driving me home, and this guy starts feeling my legs. Not feeling… scratching with his nails. For some reason he thought this was sexy.

‘He starts scratching my leg and I’m thinking “Oh my god what am I gonna do? I have no credit, I can’t call anyone. I can’t actually jump out the car cos I was in the middle of nowhere and what am I gonna do?” right.

‘And then he starts like asking me what colour underwear I have on! I thought I was going to get kidnapped. I was like, “this is how people die and get locked up in dungeons” like this is how it happens!

‘I was too scared to react cos I was like: “What if this goes south and he just goes insane? Then what am I going to do?”‘

Confused: Yewande explained how she saw this as ‘sign number one,’ but considered that perhaps she just wasn’t used to physical affection, and proceeded to get into his car

After deciding on a plan, Yewande had her date drop her off in a ‘random housing estate’ far away from her actual home, and pretended that was where she lived.

She explained: ‘So I get him to drop me in some random estate that isn’t even no where near my house, and then I end up walking home.

‘Pretend like I’m going into this random persons house right, then he drives off. And then I go home and get a message saying “oh hey, I hope I wasn’t being too forward, hope you had a great time…” in what life?!

‘Then I went to tell my friends and they were like yeah, that normally doesn’t happened, maybe you should not use Tinder!’

Awful! Following the sexual assault, she admitted: ‘I thought I was going to get kidnapped. I was like, “this is how people die and get locked up in dungeons”‘ (Pictured in 2019)

As well as detailing the terrifying date, Yewande revealed how difficult she found the months following her Love Island stint, due to cruel online trolling.

She confessed: ‘The first six/ seven months that I came out were probably the hardest because there would be times I would go on the internet and see myself trending in the UK and it was never for anything good.

‘It was never anything good, it was never. I don’t think anyone actually trends for doing something good, never ever. If your trending you should be worried.

‘I was trending on multiple occasions, because… it was just a discussion of my looks and how I looked and whether people find me attractive, or whether they didn’t find me attractive or what type of person I was.

‘It’s crazy but I mean I try not to look but when the problem is when it get re-tweeted on your timeline.’

Social media star: As well as detailing the terrifying date, Yewande revealed how difficult she found the months following her Love Island stint, due to cruel online trolling

The reality star admitted that the relentless negative comments affected her confidence and even impacted relationships.

She said: ‘It just knocks you down it really does affect your confidence when it’s always like a discussion on how you look

‘When I knew it really affected me was when I started seeing someone erm and then we would just having arguments and stuff and normally that’s a normal things to happen.

‘But, the first thing that came to my head was “oh he probably can’t hack it because everyone on the internet thinks I’m ugly” – That was the first thing that came to my mind.

‘And it was like, that’s when I knew I was f**ked up. It wasn’t like one tweet. I think it’s like over time it just chips away and then it get stuck in your mind.

Confidence: Yewande confessed her pessimistic outlook didn’t help, and eventually she decided to have a social media break while she began to ‘build back’ her confidence

Yewande confessed her pessimistic outlook didn’t help, and eventually she decided to have a social media break while she began to ‘build back’ her confidence.

She explained: ‘I think it’s just really hard because I’m such a pessimistic person anyone will tell you I’m the most pessimistic person you’ll ever meet. So I think for me it was really hard.

‘I think for instance I had to take some time off the internet completely: Instagram, Twitter… I think also just surrounding yourself with amazing friends and stuff and then also like words of affirmation.

‘I think you just have to build back your confidence a little bit at a time and just take some time out.

‘To just be like: “you know what I’m amazing and I don’t care what anyone else says!” – but it’s a working process, like time after time. One step at a time.

The full interview with Yewande Biala will be live in the PLT – Behind Closed Doors podcast with host Nat O’Leary at 8am on Tuesday November 9.
