Ewan McGregor and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Eve Mavrakis, started divorce proceedings in January after ending their 22 year relationship in May of last year. Ewan got it on with his Fargo co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and the are still together even though she didn’t really love being painted as a homewrecker. In their divorce filing, Ewan asked for joint custody of their kids 17-year-old Jamyan, 16-year-old Esther, and 7-year-old Anouk. They also have a 22-year-old daughter, Clara, but she’s a grown so they don’t have to worry about custody or money with her.
You would think that a divorce where the husband may have broken his vows on the cooch of another would be smooth and easy (/sarcasm), but this one isn’t. E! News says that Ewan doesn’t have to legally pay up child support yet, but he is. However, Ewan and Eve are fighting over just how much “voluntary” child support he’s giving her.
In joint documents filed, Ewan states that what he’s giving Eve and their three kids exceeds “what should have been his support obligation.” Whereas Eve think that the payments “were less than what her support payments should have been.” Ewan is reportedly worth about $45 million, so she’s probably not wrong as good divorce settlements can get a trick half of earnings during a marriage and I doubt he forked over that much.
Ewan’s lawyer, Fahi Takesh Hallin, of course, claims that everything is FINE and Ewan is not bitching about giving too much money and Eve is not bitching about him giving not enough money. It’s all FINE!
“This reporting is absolutely not true. Ewan has never said he is giving too much money to Eve, nor has Eve ever complained about this. Eve and Ewan have agreed that they will deal with money issues later on. Ewan and Eve are not fighting with one another about anything, including money.”
Well, at least their daughter Clara, who used to hate Mary Elizabeth, is warming up to her slightly now and isn’t sending her invoices that read: HOME WRECKING FEE, SEND PAYMENT IMMEDIATELY TO THE WOMAN WHOSE LIFE AND HUSBAND YOU FUCKED.
Based on the documents they filed, it seems like they are fighting over money, but based on Ewan’s lawyers words, everything is okay and they’re not. So I’m taking that to mean that they want to keep all the messiness and foolishness behind-closed-lawyer-doors. Pull up a seat and take not, Brangelina.
