Everyone congratulating Dec Donnelly on becoming a dad is making the same joke

Declan Donnelly and his wife Ali Astall have been showered with well wishes after the birth of their baby girl.

The couple welcomed their daughter Isla at 9am this morning, and Dec took to Twitter to share the happy news with fans this afternoon.

"Ali and I are thrilled to announce the arrival of our baby girl, Isla Elizabeth Anne, who was born just after 9 o’clock this morning," Dec posted on the page he shares with Ant McPartlin.

"Mother and daughter both doing well, Dad is head over heels! D x"

And the couple’s famous friends soon rushed to congratulate the new parents – with many making the same joke.

This Morning host Ruth Langsford commented that Dec’s daughter will be the apple of his eye.

"Congratulations Dec & Ali….wonderful news. I expect little Isla will be wrapping you around her little finger from now on….!" she tweeted.

Comedian Ian Royce – the warm-up man for The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent – also tweeted his congratulations.
