Emma Thompson glitters with festive hair at Last Christmas premiere

Emma Thompson gets into the festive spirit with glittering stars in her hair as she steps out in a fluffy purple suit at the UK premiere of Last Christmas

She stars in the new festive flick, which is based on George Michael’s famous track.  

And, Emma Thompson, 60, got into the spirit of things as she attended the UK premiere of Last Christmas at the BFI Southbank in south-east London on Monday evening. 

The much-loved actress – who was joined by her husband Greg Wise, 53, and their daughter Gaia, 19 – stood out from the crowd in a vibrant purple number, tied in with glittering stars in her hair.

Emma stepped out in a furry trouser suit, comprising flared bottoms with slits up either side, and a coordinating long-line mac. 

She teamed her vibrant attire with a classic silk white shirt beneath, ensuring the cuffs were visible. 

Keeping comfortable, Emma strolled along the baby blue carpet in metallic silver loafers, and sported a pillar-box manicure. 

And while the Love Actually star didn’t opt for an understated ensemble, her hairstyle was what drew attention from onlookers, and co-star Emilia Clarke.

Earlier in the day, during an appearance Lorraine, Emma revealed that George Michael gave his blessing for the film and was ‘so pleased’ it was happening. 

Emma gushed over the singer and said he ‘wanted to be part of it’ as she discussed the now widely-panned new film which stars Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding.

The actress discussed her meeting with George which occurred two years before his tragic death, explaining: ‘He was so nice to meet. We’re both North Londoners you see.

‘And he was very unexpected and very touching. Very sort of humble and so pleased. He was so pleased that we were writing a film based on his song.’

Emma also touched on the sadness of George’s passing before he had the chance to see the film come to life.  

She continued: ‘He wanted to be part of it and so I suppose, today which is the day which is all just starting here, I sort of can feel him about the place, it’s very spooky because he was so present with us. 

‘It was such a tragedy, 2016, just such a tragedy. It was a loss to all of us! . He was meant to be there at the premiere tonight.’
