EXCLUSIVE – Revealed: Ellie Goulding, 36, ends her ‘secret relationship’ with Tory peer Zac Goldsmith, 48, in a bid to salvage her marriage to art dealer Caspar Jopling
Ellie Goulding has ended her fledgling relationship with Zac Goldsmith in a bid to save her marriage, the Mail can reveal.
The pair had been enjoying a secret romance after they both split from their partners – and Mr Goldsmith even began making a sculpture of the singer.
But Ms Goulding, 36, has decided to salvage her marriage with art dealer Caspar Jopling. The couple welcomed their first child, Arthur, in 2021.
A close friend of Mr Goldsmith’s says that he did have a relationship with popstar Ms Goulding but it ‘ended recently’.

The source said: ‘They were categorically an item, it happened independently of matrimonial issues on both sides, and the romance is now categorically over. Ellie and Zac have ended their relationship and have not maintained contact.
‘The relationship had nothing to do with the breakdown of either marriage, but Ellie wants to fix her marriage for the sake of their son and Zac is fully concentrating on his environmental work.
‘They were an item, but it had been stalling. Caspar made an ultimatum after they were picutred together so they agreed to end all communications.’
Ms Goulding’s management had repeatedly denied that she and Mr Goldsmith were together, or that they had spoken outside of the work they do together to help save the environment.
However, their romance was able to flourish in secrecy courtesy of the 5 Hertford Street private members’ club, which is owned by Robin Birley, Mr Goldsmith’s half-brother, where they were able to spend time together behind closed doors.

Their parting comes just weeks after the pair were spotted giggling together close to Mr Goldsmith’s new home in west London – which is just minutes from Ms Goulding’s home.
Last week Mr Goldsmith, 48, took to social media to share a bronze sculpture he had carved of Ellie, hinting in the comments that he still loves her.
The post reads: ‘Subjects I love, mostly animal or human love… right now it’s just part of a larger sculpture that will be a tree of life’.
A source says he intends to give the artwork to Ms Goulding when it is completed.
Sources were quick to note at the time that their friendship was somewhat unlikely – though Ms Goulding, who grew up on a council estate, has made many high society friends including Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie who were at her wedding.
She and Mr Jopling married at York Minster in August 2019. She previously dated Radio 1 DJ Greg James and musician Calvin Harris.
A spokesman for Mr Goldsmith declined to comment.
