Ellen Pompeo, 51, opened up about the “tremendous amount of forgiveness” the Grey’s Anatomy cast have toward each other. The actress, who plays Meredith Grey on the ABC hit drama, looked back on her years filming the show during an episode of her Tell Me podcast.
The episode featured Ellen’s co-star Patrick Dempsey, 55, who portrays neurosurgeon Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd in the show.
Ellen said: “I think only we can understand what this journey has been and we are the only ones who truly understand it and each other.
“And we’ve all come through it with a tremendous amount of forgiveness and love for each other.
“And we have learnt that lesson, that empathy is the way and we’re living our best lives because of it.
“So it has been an incredible blessing.
“I wouldn’t change any of it.”
The actress went on to admit that she and her colleagues had been through “the bad” and “the good” together.
She also thanked fans of the award-winning drama for supporting them and helping them “relish in the success”.
“Even the bad we’ve learnt from and the good we look back on and laugh.
“And we still all love each other like brothers and sisters.
“Thank you to all these fans who supported us for so long because it’s really because of them that we get to relish in the success and see this as such a positive experience.
“It’s been a blessing for sure.”

Patrick immediately agreed: “Absolutely.”
Ellen recently admitted that her on-screen romances, including Meredith’s famous fling with Patrick’s character, caused some issues with her partner at the beginning of their relationship.
Speaking on Instyle’s Ladies First podcast, Ellen said her on-screen kissing scenes were actually hard on her husband, Christ Ivery.
The actress explained: “We met in 2002, it was about six months before I did the pilot to Grey’s Anatomy, poor guy, he had no idea what he was getting into.
“I remember in the beginning it was really hard for him, he was like, this is not what I signed up for.”
She continued: “You’re kissing a guy you go to work and like, make out with that, I like Patrick and everything, he’s a good dude, but like, really?
“You actresses are nuts. Like I’m supposed to put up with this?”
“It was a lot for him at first. He was really a trooper, I have to say,” Ellen added.
