In the clip, DeGeneres expressed via People that she had been enjoying the newfound absence of cameras and television production after leaving her show.

‘You know, lately I’ve been taking some time just for myself, away from the cameras,’ she said.

The performer went on to express that she recently came up with an idea for a program and asked her wife, Portia de Rossi, for help.

‘I’ve been having such a great time, I thought I would share some of what I’ve been doing with you. And so I yelled, “Portia, get the camera,” so I thanked Portia for doing this. Great job, so far,’ she said.

DeGeneres’ previous venture, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, premiered on ABC in 2003. The program quickly became a hit with viewers, with many pointing towards the comedian’s likability as a strong suit.

DeGeneres, as well as the series’ crew members, were the recipients of numerous Emmy Awards for their impressive work on the talk show.

She stayed with the program for nearly two decades before announcing last year that it would be coming to an end.

However, DeGeneres and her collaborators were faced with allegations of fostering a hostile work environment by numerous anonymous employees in 2020.

Three producers were fired from the program after it was revealed that they had engaged in various forms of misconduct while employed.

When her own alleged behavior towards guest and crew members was called into question, the comedian issued several public apologies for her behavior in the months following the scandal.
