Ed Sheeran and Beyonce’s Completely Opposite Outfits Have Internet Talking

AceShowbiz – World stars Ed Sheeran and Beyonce Knowles mind-blew everyone with their performance at Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 in South Africa on Sunday, December 2. The two singers joined forces to belt out their collab track “Perfect” and it was indeed perfect. However, one thing appeared to bug people’s mind about their performance, and no, it was not their vocals.

While the top singers slayed the song, people couldn’t help noticing a huge difference between Ed and Beyonce’s outfit choice. Coachella headliner, staying true to her diva status, opted for an over-the-top ensemble. Radiating glamour, the “Lemonade” hitmaker donned a sculptural fuchsia gown with a long train by Ashi Studio.

On the other hand, Ed was wildly underdressed in a super casual outfit. The “Shape of You” singer seemingly chose comfort over fashion as he took the stage in a black T-shirt by U.K. skateboard brand Hoax. He paired it with a white long-sleeved tee. Completing his style were dark jeans and sneakers.

The stark contrast in how the global stars were dressed had people in Twitterverse talking. One user appeared be less than impressed with Ed’s outfit, writing, “Ed Sheeran is a 27 year old man the fact we’ve enabled him to feel it’s ok to dress like this at all, let alone next to Beyonce really boils my piss,” alongside a snap of them during the stage.

Many seemingly agreed with the statement as the tweet garnered more than 9K retweets with almost 64K likes.

Some others thought that it showed gender standards as one user called out the “double standard.” The user wrote, “I get this. Even tho I appreciate good musicians in normal clothes the double standard is ridiculous… what is expected of female vs male artists.”

“People who are saying Bey’s style is her style and Ed’s is his r naive to think industry expectations didn’t have any bearing in their deliberate early image formation,” the user continued. “Bottom line- men can stand more on their hard work and talent alone while women often have to 10/10 everything.”

Another user, meanwhile, attempted to respond in a more light-hearted manner. “Ed Sheeran is actually wearing a 3-piece custom tuxedo. That’s just what white people always look like standing next to Beyonce.”

“beyonce: what are you wearing tonight? Ed Sheeran: something casual. Beyonce: oh you really meant casual,” one other tweeted.

“Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100” was an event that saw the world’s most talented artists and influencers, and thousands of global citizens to celebrate the centenary of Nelson Mandela.
