Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Karan Brar & More Unite For The Cameron Boyce Foundation’s Cam For a Cause Gala

Sophie Reynolds, Paulina Char, Sofia Carson, Dove Cameron and Karan Brar pose for a group photo while attending the inaugural The Cameron Boyce Foundation’s Cam For a Cause Gala held at Soho Warehouse on Wednesday (May 18) in Los Angeles.

The close friends of the late Cameron Boyce joined his parents Victor and Libby Boyce, as well as his sister Maya, and more of Cameron‘s past co-stars and friends at the event.

The event was held to help raise funds and awareness for the fight against Epilepsy and SUDEP, and was held just a couple of weeks before what would have been Cameron‘s 23rd birthday.

“We’re really excited about this opportunity to really show what we’re doing, and to share our stories and help us move forward in our battle against epilepsy,” Victor said in a statement, via People. “Cameron would’ve been 23 years old this year. Just thinking about that breaks my heart, every minute of every day. But, every year on his birthday, he didn’t want presents. He wanted to give back and he would always do something to help others. In that spirit, that’s why we’re doing the gala.”

“So many people know somebody with epilepsy,” Libby added. “There are so many situations where we found ourselves thinking, ‘Wow, why isn’t this louder? Why aren’t people talking about this?’ It’s just been in the shadows for too long. It’s stigmatized … and it’s perplexing.”

“We have an obligation to use Cameron‘s voice,” she continued. “Even though physically he’s not here, he would want us to do that, to bring attention to those people who are isolated and stigmatized because of their epilepsy.”

Also in attendance were Sarah Gilman, Jessie‘s Peyton List, Skai Jackson and Kevin Chamberlain, Descendants director Kenny Ortega, Zombies 3‘s Pearce Joza and producer Miles Levin, PLL: The PerfectionistsGarrett Wareing, Blindspotting‘s Jasmine Cephas Jones, Casey Simpson, Alexa & Katie‘s Nathaniel J Potvin, and Stuck in the Middle‘s Kayla Maisonet.

Cameron‘s final film, Runt, co-stars Aramis Knight, Carson Boatman and Seth Lee stepped out as well.
