Did Sophie Turner Change Her Last Name to Jonas?

Congratulations are in order for Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas! On Saturday, June 29, the couple got married (again) in a romantic ceremony held in the south of France.

One question that seems to be on everyone’s mind following the wedding is whether the Game of Thrones actress changed her last name now that she’s a married woman. It’s a good thing we’ve put our journalistic experience to use and found the answer. Here’s what we know.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ marriage license has all the details

The folks over at Entertainment Tonight were able to get their hands on a marriage license that has everything you want to know on it. The outlet published a photo of the certificate that reads, “Sophie Belinda Turner of New York, New York, born 2/21/1996, who wishes to use the name Sophie Belinda Jonas after marriage…”

So, there you have it. She’s officially Mrs. Sophie Jonas, folks.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ French wedding was everything

On June 29, the two exchanged nuptials in a candlelit ceremony at the stunning Château du Martinay in front of family and friends.

“Joe and Sophie both teared up while reading their vows,” a source told E! News. “Everyone stood and cheered, and they had huge smiles as they left as a couple. It was an emotional ceremony.”

According to Today, Jonas’ brothers Nick, Kevin, and Frankie served as groomsmen while the actress’ bestie and Game of Thrones co-star Maisie Williams served as a bridesmaid. Us Weekly reports that the bride donned a Louis Vuitton gown with a V-neck while Jonas sported a simple black suit.

“They’re enjoying the newness of being married and being able to call each other ‘husband’ and ‘wife,’” a source previously told Us Weekly of the marriage. “They’re just super happy.”

The first wedding was totally different

The couple first wed in May after the Billboard Music Awards. They got married in a small chapel in Las Vegas, where an Elvis impersonator officiated the ceremony. And it gets weirder because they used Ring Pop lollipops as their wedding bands.

A source told People that the actress and “Sucker” singer always wanted to get married in France, but that they had to get married in the United States “to make it legal.”

“We had to do a legal marriage before we did a real big one,” Jonas told Harper’s Bazaar of the Vegas wedding. “It was either the courthouse, or our version, and I preferred our version. Friends, Elvis and Ring Pops.”

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have been together for some time

They first met in 2016 through mutual friends and started dating later that year.

Jonas proposed to Turner about a year later. The couple announced the news with an adorable Instagram photo of their hands locked together, with the pear-shaped sparkler on full display. “She said yes,” Jonas captioned the photo, while Turner wrote in a post of the same picture, “I said yes.”

They’re finally in a new chapter in their lives, and we couldn’t be happier for them. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Jonas.
