Jamie Laing has been accused of flouting Tier 4 rules after he allegedly travelled to his mother’s home in the Cotswolds for Christmas.

The Made In Chelsea star, 32, is said to have made his way to his mother Penny Baines’ Cirencester farm on Tuesday, December 22, despite saying just one day before that he would be ‘stuck in London like everyone else’ amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Millions of people saw their Christmas plans cancelled due to the Tier 4 rules, which came into force in London and the south east on Sunday, December 20 and banned household mixing, travel outside of the area and overnight stays.

Jamie’s apparent lockdown flouting was revealed when he posted a video of himself mixing a cocktail in a kitchen with wood beams on Christmas Day.

Moments later, his sister posted a photo showing herself looking out over a farm, with the beams and lights seen in the snap matching Jamie’s clip, proving they were in the same room.

The photo also matches the decor seen on his mother’s farm in a snap taken last year.

Jamie is said to have returned to London on Sunday, December 27, with the star posting a clip of himself with girlfriend Sophie Habboo, where they wished fans a Merry Christmas after taking a ‘break’ from social media.

The star then reiterated his claim he and Sophie spent Christmas in London ‘bored’ during an live workout on Instagram on Monday.     

A spokesman for Jamie Laing declined to comment when approached by Mailonline. 

Those flouting Tier 4 rules face a maximum fine of up to £6,400.  

Britain suffered 34,693 new coronavirus cases on Boxing Day – an increase of more than 7,000 on last Saturday despite incomplete figures.

But deaths in England and Wales have fallen by 55 per cent on last week’s figures, as 210 were recorded on the UK Government’s dashboard on Sunday.

The mutant strain of coronavirus has sparked fear as the number of cases rise dramatically, especially in London and the Home Counties.  

TIER 4 RESTRICTIONS – WHAT ARE THE RULES? 

In Tier 4, no household mixing is allowed, though one person can meet one other person outside in a public space

You cannot meet other people indoors, including over the Christmas and New Year period, unless you live with them, or they are part of your support bubble. 

Nobody can enter or leave Tier 4 areas and residents must not stay overnight away from home 

You cannot leave or be outside of the place you are living unless you have a reasonable excuse

Outdoors, you can only meet one person from another household.  

All hospitality is closed, except for takeaways and deliveries, and accommodation and entertainment venues must shut 

Travel exceptions are only allowed for reasons such as work, exercise, education and childcare 

It came after many had to make the most of a Christmas Day already under Tier 4 restrictions in London and the south east.  

In Tier 4, no household mixing is allowed, though one person can meet one other person outside in a public space, while all non-essential shops and businesses must close, including personal care and indoor entertainment.

Nobody can enter or leave Tier 4 areas and residents must not stay overnight away from home.  

In the ‘very high’ alert level, no household mixing is allowed indoors or outdoors, except in parks and public gardens.

All hospitality is closed, except for takeaways and deliveries, and accommodation and entertainment venues must shut.

Jamie’s Tier 4 flouting came days after he insisted that he had not yet told his mother that he wouldn’t be coming home for Christmas due to the top level restrictions imposed on London and the south east of England.  

Appearing on Monday morning’s BBC Breakfast from his flat in Chelsea, the reality star admitted ‘I’m stuck like everyone else’ as he confirmed he would no longer be spending the festive break at his parent’s lavish countryside home in the Cotswolds.    

Discussing his Christmas plans, Jamie explained: ‘I’m stuck like everyone else. I was planning on going to my mum’s and I was gonna spend Christmas with the family, but I don’t think that’s going to happen now, unfortunately. 

‘But it’s happening for a lot of people. It’s just one of those years. We’ve been topped off with this tier 4 situation and we have to just kind of go with it I suppose.   

‘It’s really upsetting. Everyone wants to see their families. It’s Christmas time. It’s a time to be together. I’m here in the flat in London and that’s what it looks like what it’s going to be like at the moment.’

The MIC star – who lives with girlfriend Sophie Habboo – admitted he’s not yet told his mother that he won’t be coming home for Christmas, but insisted: ‘I think she understands.

 ‘We were meant to be having different families coming over but it’s just too hard. It’s too complicated. It’s too concerning to risk anything. It’s just staying in London.  

Sussex, Oxfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire moved into Tier 4 on Boxing Day, created in response to a variant of Covid-19 discovered in the UK, from Saturday.

The parts of Essex still in Tier 2, Waverley in Surrey and Hampshire including Portsmouth and Southampton, but with the exception of the New Forest, also moved into the toughest tier.

The additional six million that went into Tier 4 took the total number of people under the toughest restrictions to 24 million – 43 per cent of England’s population. A further 24.8 million moved to Tier 3.

Meanwhile, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset including the North Somerset council area, Swindon, the Isle of Wight, the New Forest and Northamptonshire plus Cheshire and Warrington moved up to Tier 3. 

Cornwall and Herefordshire moved up to Tier 2 from December 26, where the main restrictions are no household mixing allowed indoors, but the ‘rule of six’ applies outdoors.

Hospitality venues must close unless serving substantial meals with drinks, while large sport and entertainment events are allowed but with a very limited audience.

The Isles of Scilly, which has a population of just 2,000 people, was the only area of England that remained in Tier 1.

In the lowest alert level, the ‘rule of six’ must apply indoors and outdoors, while there must be table service in hospitality venues, with last orders at 10pm and closing time at 11pm.
