Angelina Jolie was reportedly okay with not tying the knot with Brad Pitt nearly a decade into their relationship. After two failed marriages, Jolie allegedly told friends that she had zero interest in ever exchanging vows again. But when 2014 rolled around, inside sources claimed that Jolie was forced to wed Pitt because she was feeling pressured to make a big commitment.

Was Angelina Jolie forced into marriage?

Jolie and Pitt first started dating in 2005, shortly after the demise of his marriage to Jennifer Aniston. At the time, Jolie had already gone through two divorces and was not keen on walking down the aisle ever again.

The couple dated for close to a decade before exchanging vows in2014. Their marriage lasted a whole two years before Jolie filed for divorce inSeptember of 2016.

While Jolie and Brad Pitt fought a bitter custody battle in theyears following their split, inside sources claim that Jolie never wanted toget married in the first place.

According to TheBlast, the actress told her close friends that she never wanted tomarry again and was forced to tie the knot after Pitt pressured her.

“She felt that Brad pressured her,” a source shared.

Pitt has been linked to a number of different women since thebreakup, yet Jolie has yet to start dating again. In fact, the insider addedthat Jolie is happy now that she is single and would not have it any other way.

Earlier this year, the two asked a judge to give them abifurcated judgment so that they could have single status once again. Theruling officially ended their marriage, though the divorce has yet to befinalized.

Pitt and Jolie still have to iron out some financial details oftheir split and work out a more permanent custody agreement.

Jolie opens up about divorce

In a recent interview, Jolie shared her thoughts on the divorceand how she has handled the drama over the past few years.

The actress admitted that she has not felt secure in herself foryears and that it has taken great effort to get her confidence and sense offreedom back. According to FoxNews, Jolie did not say her struggles were related to the divorce,but it is safe to say that the split did not help her state of emotions.

“I have felt small. I have felt cornered. And it has taken alot to find that again, probably more of that today than I was in the last fouryears,” Jolie shared.

Jolie filed for divorce in September of 2016. She shares six children with Brad Pitt, including Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox.

Following the divorce, reports surfaced that Pitt had physicallyabused Maddox on board a private plane. Pitt was fully investigated and foundinnocent of the claims. His relationship with Maddox, however, has yet to fullyheal.

Speaking of Brad Pitt, the actor recently opened up about thebreakup while promoting his new film, Ad Astra. Pitt revealed that hehad to take responsibility for what happened in his failed marriage and admitto himself that he could have done better.

Sources also claim that Pitt is happy now that the hardships areover. He is also looking forward to raising his children and being the best dadpossible.

Considering how Jolie has now experienced three failed marriages,it is probably safe to say that she will not be getting married again. In fact,a source recently revealed that Jolie is determined to stay away from the bondsof marriage for the remainder of her life.

The insider also said that Jolie is happy being single and hasyet to dip her toes into the dating pool.

Before tying the knot with Brad Pitt, Jolie was married to JonnyLee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.

Jolie has not commented on the rumors surrounding her divorce.The actress is currently gearing up for the premiere of her next movie, Maleficent2, which is scheduled to open in theaters on October 18.

Brad Pitt has not confirmed any new romances, though he isreportedly dating a jewelry designer named Sat Hari Khalsa. The two werespotted hanging out at a music gala last year and have been good friends forquite some time.
