Dancing With the Stars aired its annual Halloween episode on Monday night, keeping up a pair of traditions in the process:
1. Each contestant dressed up in a costume.
2. The worst contestant continued to avoid elimination.
We don’t even mean this as a partisan jab at Sean Spicer. The guy is just an objectively horrible dancer.
And yet… he’s still around.
How could this be? And who got eliminated instead of the former White House Press Secretary?
Let’s break it all down, shall we?
Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson: The tandem danced a pretty tight and clean jive to “Time Warp” dressed as snakes, impressing all three judges to the tune of 27 points.
James Van Der Beek and Emma Slater: The Dawson’s Creek alum took on the role of a demon for a Viennese Waltz to “I Put a Spell on You.”
Bruno referred to the dance as “incredible,” but did mention a slip at one point. Len also said the actor put a spell on him, helping Van Der Beek also earn 27 points.
Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber: Another 27-pointer! This time because the artist took on a tango… while dressed as Harley Quinn from DC Comics.
Carrie Ann called it “ridiculously good,” yet noted that Ally lost her focus for just a split second.
They admitted after the dance the pair had become family each week, especially since their near-elimination last week. How adorable, right?!?
Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten: The Bachelorette star confessed that it was difficult not to get discouraged after again receiving three 8s last week.
In this case, she portrayed a dead pageant queen during her Jazz routine and Len called her a “terrific dancer” and even defended Hannah when Bruno said she needed to be more punchy. Overall? 25 points.
Lauren Alaina and Gleb Savchenko: The country singer turned up the sexy — big time! – for the Argentine Tango and the judges took note. Especially considering Alaina’s conservative nature.
Althought she slipped at one point, Carrie Ann was very impressed with her recovery. Len totally saw the sparks …while Bruno couldn’t get over her Marilyn Monroe-like vampire. 27 points!
Karamo and Jenna Johnson: The forme couldn’t wait to dance a Paso to Drestiny’s Child’s “Survivor.”
He did start on the wrong foot, however, while Len was a tad bit harsh, saying he needed to work on his shaping. A total here of 25 points.
Sean Spicer and Lindsay Arnold: The ex- politician danced a jive to “Monster Mash,” but lacked anything “super” and wasn’t natural, according to Len.
The judges gave Spicer props for trying hard… and then gave him 18 points as a total score.
Kate Flannery and Pasha Pashkov: The Office actress danced a rumba as Little Red Riding Hood to “I Want to Fall in Love.”
Bruno called the dance “beautiful and haunting,” but added that sometimes she “lost a little bit of fluidity.” Len gave Pasha a ton of credit for impressive weekly routines that constantly blow him away. Overall score? 24.
So… who got the boot this week?
After adding together the judges’ scores from both the individual dances and group dance were combined with the fans’ voting, Karamo and Kate landed in the bottom two.
The judges were not pleased with the results; Carrie Ann said they were evenly matched but she saved Karamo. Bruno saved Kate. Len therefore had to make the decision.
After he said neither pair deserved to be there because, you know, Spicer is the worst, he saved Kate — meaning that Karamo and Jenna Johnson were eliminated.
Such BS, you guys.
