Dancing On Ice stars Wes Nelson and Vanessa Bauer have for weeks been sparking speculation about the true nature of their relationship, after even the judges commented on their chemistry.
Both stars of the ITV show ditched their partners at the beginning of the competition – Vanessa splitting from her boyfriend of two years, while Wes dumped Love Island co-star Megan Barton-Hanson for being too jealous – and have remained single ever since.
But one insider claims they had a secret fling right at the very start of the series – which Wes let fizzle out for fame.
"Wes and Vanessa were instantly attracted to each other, you only had to be in the same room as them for a minute to see sparks were flying," the source told the Sun .
"But it wasn’t long before Wes decided he would rather stay single. He is the man of the moment and fast becoming a household name."
Vanessa, the source went on, has "come to accept" that Wes isn’t looking for a serious relationship, especially now "girls are queueing up to knock on his door".
"This has been really awkward but they are both being professional and getting on with it. They know that the Dancing On Ice trophy is theirs to lose."
If the reports are true, Megan would have been totally vindicated in her concerns that Wes would get his head turned by the talented 22-year-old professional skater.
Talking to today’s Sunday People, Wes revealed the depths of her jealousy as Meg would call him constantly while he was training with Vanessa.
"At training I would be nowhere near as focused as I am now," he explained.
"I’d be skating and then run off to use my phone. It was a constant cycle of not being able to train. We’d get momentum, we were finally getting somewhere and then I’d have to take a call."
Wes went on: "For the first three weeks I struggled to wake up, I’d be late and unable focus."
He said the break-up with Megan was even harder as it so public, and was in tears on last week’s show.
The former nuclear design engineer added: "I’m not doing anything for any publicity stunt, it’s just genuinely upsetting."
Mirror Online has contacted Wes and Vanessa’s reps for comment.
