Damon Wayans Announces He’s Leaving ‘Lethal Weapon’!

WTF??

Lethal Weapon was nearly canceled over the behind-the-scenes drama between Damon Wayans Jr. and Clayne Crawford.

Ultimately, Crawford was held accountable for a couple outbursts at crew and for a stunt gone wrong in an episode he directed. He was replaced by Seann William Scott in a major season 3 overhaul.

Now Wayans has shocked by announcing he’s leaving, too!

When asked about plans for season 4, the star told EURweb in a video interview:

“Well, this is more of an announcement, but I’m going to be quitting the show in December after we finish the initial 13. So I really don’t know what they’re planning, but that’s what I’m planning.”

WHAT?? After all that he’s gone?

In way of explanation, he remarks:

“I’m a 58-year-old diabetic and I’m working 16-hour days… Like Murtaugh said, I’m too old for this.”

Wayans is also struggling with some family issues he feels he hasn’t had time for; both his mother and his daughter have recently undergone surgeries, and he couldn’t be there to support them. He says:

“It’s hard for me to play this loving, supportive father/husband/ friend on TV, but be the guy in life that is telling everyone, I can’t I have to work.”

No word yet on whether Fox will just pull the plug on the hit series, whose season 3 premiere ratings were down 21% from the season 2 premiere — but up 8% from last season’s finale.

Fans cannot be happy with this news.
