Chrissy Teigen’s reaction to opening Emmy Awards monologue goes viral

Chrissy Teigen won the award for best reaction to the opening monologue at this year’s Emmy Awards.

The mum-of-two can always be counted on to provide the most extreme facial expressions and she didn’t disappoint at Monday night’s star-studded ceremony.

Following a musical skit from the Saturday Night Live cast, co-hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che delivered a monologue that was littered with jokes about sexual abuse in Hollywood, racism and politics.

Che said it was an "honour to be here sharing this night with many, many talented and creative people in Hollywood", adding: "Who have not yet been caught."

While Jost said audience members were allowed to drink alcohol in their seats for the first time, adding: "Because the one thing Hollywood needs right now is people losing their inhibitions at a work function."

But their jokes didn’t appear to go down well with Chrissy (or most viewers), who could be seen cringing and trying to disappear into her seat.

One viewer commented: "Chrissy Teigen ducking out of frame was funnier than anything in this monologue."

While a second said: "@Chrissyteigen her face said it all. Her slouch was funnier than the entire monologue."

And Chrissy wasn’t the only one whose facial expression went viral during the show.

SNL star Leslie Jones looked more stunned than anyone else in the audience to see Oscar director Glenn Weiss propose to his girlfriend as he collected an award on stage.

The entire room erupted into cheers before Weiss invited his partner to the stage.

He explained the ring was the same one his father had given to his mother 67 years ago before popping the question and leaving The Crown’s Claire Foy in tears.
