Chelsea player ratings from draw with Everton

Everton delivered a resolute display to secure an impressive point against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The point continues Chelsea’s unbeaten start to the season although they were ultimately frustrated by Marco Silva’s visitors.

Jordan Pickford was outstanding as he made stops from Alvaro Morata and Marcos Alonso, before the Chelsea left-back hit the post after the break.

Everton had a few opportunities of their own with the best falling to Bernard, only for the Brazilian to lose his footing when well placed.

Here are John Cross’ player ratings from a fiery goalless draw at Stamford Bridge as England’s No.1 impressed again.

Chelsea

Kepa 6 – The quieter of the two keepers, had little to do but looked solid enough.

Azpilicueta 7 – Good display down the right as he bombed forward and showed his attacking prowess.

Luiz 6 – Told the Chelsea fans to turn up the volume – and it worked in second half.

Rudiger 6 – Booked. Bust-up with Bernard, his reaction could’ve got Everton player sent off.

Alonso 7 – Often Chelsea’s most dangerous player with his spectacular long range shots.

Jorginho 6 – Booked. Lucky to only see yellow for foul on Sigurdsson. Subbed early.

Kante 6 – Kante is a defensive player, he is wasted in the more advanced role.

Kovacic 7 – Hard working performance, tried to unlock the door but with no luck.

Willian 6 – Full of drive and energy, but ran out of steam and ideas and was subbed.

Hazard 7 – Some magical inspiration, but even he struggled to break down Everton’s resilience.

Morata 6 – There were flashes but Chelsea miss having a focal point and a goalscorer.

Subs

Fabregas , for Jorginho, 64 mins, 7

Pedro, for Willian, 68 mins, 6

Barkley, for Kovacic, 82 mins

Everton

Pickford 8 MotM – Booked. Some terrific saves, the best was from Alonso’s volley.

Coleman 6 – Rampaging runs forward, tough and gritty full back display. Good.

Keane 7 – You can understand why the England recall: good on the ball, strong defensively.

Mina 7 – Booked. Tough and robust in central defence, hard start to English football.

Digne 6 – Very little chance to get forward which is arguably strongest point of his game.

Gueye 6 – Hard working performance, shielded Everton’s back four to good effect.

Gomes 6 – Put in a decent shift in midfield, did well against Chelsea’s three.

Sigurdsson 7 – Lively, caused problems, forced one terrific save with long range effort.

Walcott 6 – His pace caused dangerous moments. On receiving end of rough treatment.

Bernard 6 – Booked. Lucky referee did not see his bust-up with Rudiger.

Richarlison 6 – Got little service and Everton miss his runs from the wing.
