‘It won’t last forever’: Chantelle Houghton warns Love Island stars ‘don’t splash all your money on flash cars and designer handbags’ as she gives her take on reality TV fame

She has been laying low over the last few years following her rise to fame as the winner of Celebrity Big Brother in 2006.

And Chantelle Houghton advised the Love Island stars to avoid splashing the cash during her return to television on Wednesday’s This Morning.

The Celebrity Big Brother winner, 35, cautioned the fresh TV blood to avoid spending all their money on designer handbags and flashy cars.

She said: ‘Don’t buy into it, don’t splash all your money because it won’t last forever.

‘They go and buy all these flash cars and designer handbags and then all of a sudden they have no work and no money.’

Chantelle also gave a word of warning about online trolls as she instructed the new stars would need to have a ‘thick skin’ and ‘stay grounded’.

She also added: ‘You’ve really got to have a thick skin. Stay grounded.’

The reality star explained she didn’t realise she would be famous overnight as she expected the cameras to go away after she had left the show. 

She said: ‘God I went in there and thought I would do one interview and go back to normal life. I had a lot of help from producers, I had a great experience.’

Chantelle made the warnings about the trapping of fame when she appeared on This Morning alongside Love Island 2017 stars Eyal Booker and Dr. Alex George.

The blonde bombshell had her first taste for fame when she entered the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2006, despite not being a celebrity.

Initially, when she went into the compound, she was tasked with pretending to be part of a fictional band.

Chantelle went onto marry singer Samuel Preston at the Dartmouth House, in Mayfair in August 2006 after they fell madly in love with each other in the house. 

However, the exes were devastated when they decided to part ways for good and end their marriage only ten months later.

Chantelle raises her daughter, aged seven, with her ex-boyfriend Alex Reid whom she split up with three months after their baby was born in July 2012.
